Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the App store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/22

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

Add my wife and I to the list of those that hate the new dashboard. My wife has had several Fitbit devices and I liked the way the app looked so I bought a Versa right before you changed the dashboard. If I had seen the new dashboard I wouldn’t have bought a Fitbit. I updated the app without seeing what the new one was going to look like and I was immediately disappointed. I showed it to my wife and warned her not to choose the new version but 2 days later she had it too, even though she had chosen not to update. Now we both hate it and are looking at other options. We both have iPhones so maybe it’s time to just move to Apple watches? It’s amazing how a UI can have such an effect on your enjoyment of a product. I’ve looked through a bunch of threads and all I’ve seen from moderators is that they have seen no plans for another update, or change, based on all this feedback. I’m shocked, really. I’d be switching right now if I hadn’t just bought my Versa, but this may just end up being a costly lesson for me. Karma is telling me I should have just spent more money on the better product to start with.

Am I seriously the only one whose dashboard is working seamlessly? I've had the new update for a while now and I haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood).

And suddeny it changed. Fitbit Ionic, 2x Fitbit Versa and 1 Inspire HR here in my family.

Strange that Fitbit allowed their developers to change from a central tabbed view of activities which was very clear to a list view that needs scrolling and where the one-click access to the workweek hustles has been removed, besides the dull look nor user acceptance testing. Don’t like the new interface of the iOS app at all, as many/all others. Now the app looks similar to the Garmin app (but the level of detail in that one is insane) :-).

The look of the old Fitbit app, where you had a clear overview in 1 view, made me switch always back to the Ionic instead of the Fenix 5 or Polar M430 after a while and for regular use. Although it’s cleary no high-end device compared to the competition (a gap in the Fitbit portfolio) and doesn’t have the look of a high-end bigger watch on my wrist, the app pulled my back. Now that that’s gone, I don’t see any benefit anymore in wearing the Ionic. I’m convinced that Fitbit will not change back or at least give the option to change the interface again nor listen to the feedback as stated in their promising chatbot-like copy-paste replies :-). Anybody did ever see any change after “thanks for your valuable feedback, we will inform

our dev team about it”. Yeah right 🙂 I’m sure feedback will fade but that might happen to the sales number as well if they continue like this. In an ever-growing market with a lot of competition, this wasn’t a smart move.

It’s “working” so far on my phone, but it’s not working “better” in any respect from a usability perspective, and it’s “worse” in a key manner that I use on a daily basis.  It takes an extra step to set silent alarms, for no apparent reason.

I wear the Fitbit because I also wear a mechanical watch and sometimes a Garmin Fenix, so a normal smart watch doesn’t work for me.  I’m on my third generation of Fitbit, and I think it will almost certainly be the last. Next time my device dies (which is pretty consistently every 12-18 months), I’ll likely switch to a Vivoactive, since I’m already in the Garmin ecosystem, and I track exercise and nutrition on MyFitnessPal.  The new dashboard has actually *reduced* the stickiness for the user.

It’s sad, because I had really hoped to get at least the “Earth Diameter” badge while on the platform.

So, I kind of opted in - as I was asked in the app. I like to try out new things, but this time I’m really disappointed. The new dashboard (iOS) has some serious drawbacks, most of which are related to number of clicks to get to certain info.

Some examples:

- With the old setting, I was able to see four, almost six tiles on my iPhone screen plus the today widget without scrolling. Now I get Today plus three and a quarter tiles.

- On the old DB, I could see a rough breakdown of my sleep phases already on the main screen. More details were of course available in the sleep screen. The new DB requires me to actually click/tap on the sleep screen to see the overall breakdown of my sleep.

- Previously, on top left my Tracker was directly connected and I could with one more click set the alarms. Now I have to go through an additional menu to get to the alarms of the single tracker I own.

All in all, the new DB is a step backwards in my point of view. If I could, I would gladly switch back to the old settings. Not because I dislike the new design - the look and feel is great. But giving things a new look by cutting down the features is not the best way to keep users happy!

Lastly, although not completely related to the dashboard: I was under the impression that the Heart Rate Detail screen was giving a weekly average similar to the Sleep detail screen. That is not showing anymore.

Disappointing Fitbit has changed their dashboard landing page without an option to use the previous view. Now I’m forced to scroll down the page to see what could be seen in 1 view before. Also the view is far less eye appealing. Sad. Changing a landing page should make it better for the users.  I didn’t opt- in, I had no choice.

Hate It!  I didn’t opt in and the Iphone App just updated on its own. I didn’t update on purpose because I saw and didn’t like the new format.  I am now looking at my options. The Apple Watch looks pretty good to me right about now. Dont think I will be buying another Fitbit product since you don’t seem to listen to your customers. So Sad.

I have to agree with everyone that is disappointed. I bought my Versa directly from Fitbit.com as an upgrade from a 2-year old Alta HR, This new dashboard is not what I bought when I switched. I am trying to find contact info to request I be allowed to return it for a refund.

If anyone at Fitbit is listening, it was important to me to be able to customize my screen and see all of it at once. I can’t find the heart rate reading anywhere, even by searching help. Plus it is just not attractive to look at. I paid $250 for my Versa and it should be more user friendly and appealing for that price.

i just don’t like my Fitbit anymore.

Once again, the project managers have over stepped their bounds while determining what the users really want.  First the type face is a lot smaller, now we have to scroll to view what we want to see, and we no longer see how many flights of stairs we have managed throughout the day.  Who put in these requirements?  Surely it was no one who actually uses the application on a regular basis.  Please revise the interface to allow all of us long time users to have our original set up.  Quite frankly, I am tired of requesting the management to put it back the way it was on all of the changes some person has arbitrarily changed.  If this is the development staff doing this, tell them to work on the real problems and not the ones they feel the need to tweak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m ok with it, too. The old one was much better, but I can live with this “downgrade”.

I say downgrade because as a senior citizen, Fitbit just handicapped me. I need reading glasses to see my numbers, so now, I have to wait to analyze my runs/workouts.

Everything was easier to see in the old app. Really, that’s my main complaint. However, since they haven’t fixed Avg.HR/GPS, I’ll still keep my eyes open for a new tracker.  It’s just that now, I’ll also check out their app for size and clarity.

If it ain’t broken, DON’T FIX IT!

I still don’t like this new layout. The scrolling  and untidy mess the challenges are now in is annoying. The challenges need re-sorting everyday, as sorting doesn’t stick. Still, I could live with it.

But what is the point of a challenge community when new challenges cannot be started. It’s pointless. I can use the “rematch” button if it actually appears. I know the theory of how new challenge invitations are created, but the new UI just greys this out and doesn’t allow me to do it.  I’m on the latest IOS on iPhone X.

Also, sneak peak doesn’t work. The button is there, but it doesn’t work. If it’s there, it should work. That was a very useful feature which is now broken.

Its been more than a month now that I can’t start challenges or sneak peak. I don’t like your other changes, but as they are cosmetic changes, reluctantly I would accept them if, at least, Fitbit would fix key broken features.

The only thing that previously kept me loyal to fitbit was the great challenge community. Why would I stay loyal now, since I can’t start new challenges?

Let me get the old design back. I was forced to the new and its so ugly.

Is Fitbit even listening??? This new update just plain sucks!!!! Have had nothing but trouble with syncing, the layout is not as user friendly as the old version.  This update took a major step backwards from a users standpoint, not to mention the challenges being moved is infuriating and having to scroll for info that used to be front and center leaves me wondering what the hell were the developers thinking??  There was nothing wrong with the old version, but you went and “broke” it with this sorry excuse of an app!

Fitbit is forcing its customers to use a new user interface that is regressive both aesthetically and functionally. I understand that you might want a dumbed down interface to attract new users, but forcing it on everyone else is a great way to loose existing customers. The auto-installed app update that brought the new UI also seems to have made synching really unreliable.

And while engineering effort is wasted on this disaster, other companies are putting their engineering effort in to meaningfully improving their products and expanding their capabilities. Our next trackers will not be from Fitbit.

I opted in sadly.  I am very unhappy.  Opting in coincides with my step count being off 15-20% and my heart rate not being correct.  I’ve done all the trouble shooting...restarted my Fitbit charge 3 and counted my steps for accurately AND monitored my heart rate.  This new change makes my Fitbit Charge 3 pretty much useless.   You have lost my support of any further purchases unless you fix this soooooonnn!!

I do not like the new dashboard. I didn't update the app, but all of a sudden it magically changed. I've heard that it was an opt-in feature. I never opted in. I'd much rather opt-out. Wish we would get that choice.
