After this past update to the FitBit iOS app, I have had trouble adding any foods to my Food Log that are not already in my "Frequent", "Recent" or "Custom" list. If I go to a chain restaurant and try to add something, the "loading" sits there and circles round and round for 5 minutes until it times out. I can add the food to the food log on the website via my laptop, but then the phone app doesn't always see it. I am running iOS 12 on an iPhone 5.
It is so frustrating that it is tempting to switch over to a competitor for a food log, but then I don't get the correlation between my steps, exercise and the food. I'm trying to maintain weight loss, so this is very important.

OK, I tried all that and am still encountering issues. I can't remember the first time I experienced this, but it was sometime after one of the past 2 updates. My phone is set to update apps immediately so I was running the latest version of the app, but I don't always update my phone right away. However, it has been on the most update iOS for the last couple of weeks.
I reboot my phone almost every night, since I rarely have it on at night. I've logged out and logged back into FitBit. If I add the food on the website, it will show up on my phone eventually.
It's very frustrating.

I have been having the same issue since the major change to the app about three weeks ago. I have an iPhone 5s and it is NOT on iOS13. Apple is no longer upgrading older phones to the latest operating system. I have tried force quitting the app and restarting the phone but the app still simply hangs when I try to add new foods from a search or new foods that I try to create in a custom list.
I can go to a computer, bring up a browser and login to fitbit from there to add foods to my log, but I can no longer use the app to log food unless it is already part of my "frequent" list.
SO frustrating! I was enjoying this app until it stopped working. Now it is just a source of frustration.
