Food log not working

When adding a new food from the food database I just keep getting the spinning icon. This is happening more and more so frustrating when you are trying to log your food. Have tried logging out of the Fitbit app. Shutting the phone down then logging in again no success

Thanks for giving us all a response. I must admit that it has been a long time coming and hopefully your updates will correct this, especially as FB is constantly asking me to upgrade my account.

When adding a new food from the food database I just keep getting the spinning icon. This is happening everyday.  Tried reinstalling Fitbit on my iPad 3 times.  Always the same.  Running latest system software.  Lots of iPad memory.  No reported errors.  Other apps work fine.☹️

Recently entering food calories has stopped working for food I haven’t entered before. I can enter food that I have put in previously when app was working properly. Now, for a food from the Fitbit list after selecting it I just get a grey screen with the spinning symbol. I have done the usual log out, turn off Bluetooth, force quit app, turn off phone, wait and then turn all back on. Any help for getting the app to work. My wife has same problem with her Charge 4 and entering food calories too. So it’s not just me!

Tried to uninstall and reinstall so many times! It is so frustrating the food log and barcode recognition does NOT work on iOS: I have to enter from desktop. So disappointing!

I've been discussing this with fitbit-support.  They are trying to help.  So far, they have suggested "logging out of your account and log back in".  I will do this, but today I noticed something else:  If I go to my fitbit ipad app and click on my face to get to my Account Settings and Authorized devices.  It says that I am logged into 3 iPad's and 1 Windows device.  That's odd since I only have one iPad.  I've deleted all devices.  Now, when I log in I show only 1 iPad and 1 Windows.  Fitbit has worked for the past hour, but it usually has trouble at dinner time.  We'll see.

Not for me. Just had a couple items that I logged in for lunch get double counted (again!).

sorry the data base is not working well yet, especially for new items that are in the database but uploading the desired portion from the database gets the spinning cog response for many minutes without conclusion.  For items in my Recent, it is working but there are some ) calories showing up until I change the quantity and then restore the actual quantity, then it shows the calories.  Not worth using now until this gets figured out and fixed.

Thank you for the details mentioned, I understand that this can be very frustrating and appreciate your feedback. I would like to advise that our team has started releasing a new version of the Fitbit app (3.42) and I recommend updating the app once you see it available as updates come with new features and bug fixes. I’m on an iPhone 7 with the latest OS and latest fitbit app version. I, too, am experiencing troubles with food not loading when I search by name or barcode.

I've been using version 3.42, latest, on my iPad for several days and there is no change or improvement.  It would be nice to have some diagnostic info available.  For example, after the spinning wheel continues perhaps a message saying the the Fitbit server is overloaded!  Today it happened again after I put some cheese on my breakfast sandwich.  After 5 minutes I gave up and went to the my phone.  It worked OK but I discovered that some of today's items were missing!  I then used my phone to update the data.  The iPad has a much better screen so I'm very disappointed.  I'll continue to use the phone for the time being.

FYI I did follow up on your suggestion and posted a negative review on the Fitbit Facebook site - my post outlined the issues I’ve experienced and the fact this group of users waiting for this issue to be fixed continues to grow.  There was no foul language, etc but Fitbit removed it within a day of me posting it.  I noticed buried comments in other posts expressing frustration with Fitbit but I guess they didn’t want a stand-alone post on their site.

This is happening to me too. Is the app entirely run by APIs? The app is considerably slower with food logging nearly impossible at this point. This is more than a device issue.

i’m sorry but no that was not helpful. I have checked Settings to see that it is updated, I have cleared on authorized users, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and yesterday I called support and was chastised by the guy that answered. I’ve been using this app for three years and never had a problem until about three months ago. Please let the IT department know that food logging must be updated!
