Getting "SSL Error" in the Fitbit app.

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Out of nowhere yesterday, my fitbit app stopped working and I am getting a message that says "An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made."

Every other app on my phone works great.  I am unable to connect at all to it.  I have tried to shut off the Bluetooth and then turn it back on, delete and reinstall the app, shut down the phone and restart.  Nothing it working.  IOS is up to date and has not recently been updated.  Literally, nothing has changed except for the Fitbit app has stopped working for me and I now cannot log on at all.

Please advise if there is an issue.

Thank you!

Also, to note, this happens over the wireless or regular wifi data.

Thank you!

There seem to be a few posts reporting this error over the years. This thread suggests some steps that worked for someone else:

I think I replied to the wrong thread.  I have tried those suggestions but to no avail.  I reset all of my wireless connections and manually reconnected.  It says the same thing whether i am connect to wireless or cellular data.

I've looked through a few other posts that came up in the search but none look too promising. I think your best bet would be to contact customer support: contact.fitbit.com

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention and for letting me know about the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. At this moment I would like to ask you for a screenshot of the error message you're getting so I can check this further.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting for your reply.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE FLACK FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA :australia:

Hey guys if anyone is having issues with their Fitbit and receiving a message that says “SSL Server connection failed” I figure how to fix it.

Step 1: Delete Fitbit app
Step 2: Allow 5 minutes then Download Fitbit app.
Step 3: On the login page. Click “forget password” reset password. The link will be sent to your email. Click on link or “forget password” follow the steps.
Step 4: Open up Fitbit app. Add NEW password
Step 5: Once you’ve completed all these steps reconnect the watch paired with your phone and from there it should work.

Tips:

Make sure your phone and app is updated to the latest software.

When creating a password always include a capital letter and numbers.

Never have watch on all day syncing (it drains the battery life) to sync it open the Fitbit app and click on the watch then drag the screen down and it will sync the watch.
