It's nice to see you around the forums @mahildy! The messages and notifications should be automatically deleted after 30 days except friend request in which case you need to manually decline them. Try logging out from the app, restart your phone and then log back in if the messages and notifications have more than 30 days.

I've moved your post to the iOS App as there are more chances to get more related replies here.

Which notifications are you referring to @mahildy the notifications on the tracker or the ones in the community on the Fitbit app. It's the community notifications should clear in 30 days.

The ones on the tracker may be swiped off, or scroll up and delete all.

Hello @Pentecostal08 what notifications are you reffering to?

I’m talking about the notifications and messages  at the bottom of the app.  They date waaay back and I can’t get new ones. It won’t swipe, and on the side where it should give options???  (...) it is t lit up so I cannot see if there is an option to delete.

On the fit bit app. The notifications section. It tells me I have notifications but it won’t let me clear them off the screen.

I have the same issue. The notifications has an unread symbol next to it and nothing can be done to remove it. Its really messing quite badly with my OCD.

Well, it looks like a re-install worked perfectly.

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear that you are still seeing your notifications on your Fitbit app. Please try the logging out, restart your phone and logging back in as Suggested by @MarreFitbit. If this doesn't work then we can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app as @SalvoZA has kindly tried this and have success removing the notifications.

Removing the Fitbit application and reinstalling remove the old messages that were stuck on the message tab of Notifications, but not the notifications under the Notification tab.

It would be nice to have an option within the iOS app to clear or mark all notifications as read (Fitbit app -> notifications -> notifications (left tab)).

Also, as reported in other threads, please include an option for iOS users to turn off notifications from posts where they have cheered or commented (again, within the app, I am not talking about posts on community.fitbit.com). This option is available for Android, and it does not make any sense that iPhone users don't have it.

Finally, add an option to silence annoying "someone has posted for the first time in a long time" notifications (again, within the iPhone app).

Hope someone from Fitbit reads this and reacts, thank you!!!

Thanks for following the tips and recommendations @Inspector22 and thanks for your feedback @oucesar!

If you're referring to the notifications you receive on your Fitbit app, note that you can't delete the notifications but they should disappear after 30 days (cheers, taunts and messages from friends). If you still see notifications older than 30 days then please log out from the app, restart your phone and then log back in. Smiley Very Happy

The new version of the notification center display shows the most recent 100 notifications. These can not be deleted as it was designed in that way, I would like to encourage you to vote and place your comments in this request that was already suggested here: Let us delete in-app notifications/Messages.

The more votes and comments an idea has, the more visibility and momentum it gains. Implementing enhancements to Fitbit trackers and services take time as our devs and engineers have to be double sure that this will properly work.

Let me know if there's anything else I may assist you with.

Logging out, turning off the phone, tourning on the phone, logging back into the Fitbit app does not remove the old messages.

These are the Fitbit msgs about Yea, you met your goal or did not meet your goal. The msgs are from February 2018 to June 2018. I have tried all the suggested tricks to no avail.

I agree with the others. This is silly that you cannot correct this issue in over a year. The negative comments you continue to receive and the negative attitude of Fitbit to correct this issue is not good for a company to ignore. Please correct the application for your loyal customers.

Thanks for getting back @Inspector22! May I ask for a screen shot showing these old messages?

In the meantime, please try the following:

  1. In app, tap Account icon and then Notifications.
  2. Confirm toggle is on and switch it to off.
  3. Confirm push notifications are on in phone settings for the Fitbit app and turn them off.
  4. Log out of your Fitbit app
  5. Force quit the app
  6. Turn off the Bluetooth
  7. Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  8. Turn on the Bluetooth
  9. Log back into your Fitbit app

Share the outcome!

In the Fitbit app, tapped Account icon and then Notifications.
Confirmed toggle is on and switched it to off.
Confirmed push notifications were on in phone settings for the Fitbit app
and turned them off.
Logged out of the Fitbit app
Forced a quit of the app
Turned off the Bluetooth
Shut down my phone and turned it on after 2 minutes and 15 seconds
Turned on the Bluetooth
Logged back into the Fitbit app
Checked the Notifications in Fitbit and the February 24th thru June 16th
notifications are still there.

I have also tried the solution of
logging out of Fitbit
shutting down Fitbit
removing the Fitbit application
Shutting down the iPhone
Restarting the iPhone
reloading the Fitbit app at the App store
Logging into the Fitbit app
Checking the notifications
and they were still there after all that also.

Any other suggestions to try?
Shouldn't I be able to swipe the notifications or something to delete each
one individually?

Thank you,

Did all that too!  Mine go back to June.  Oh well!

@MarreFitbit notifications seem to be starting around long after the 30 days even after removing the app.

Could a ticket please be filled out, people have been reporting this for the last year.
