I appreciate you have taken the time to let me know you've already tried the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. Tell me, are you getting an error message when trying to enable All-day Sync or Notifications? If so, please try the following:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Go to the Fitbit app and tap on Account > Alta HR and try to enable All-day Sync again.

If you're still getting an error message, my best recommendation is to set up your Alta HR as a new device. Keep in mind that your tracker can store up to 7 days of detailed information in case you haven't synced on this period and all the information already synced in your account won't be deleted when you set up the Alta HR as a new device.

With that said, try the following:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted!

Hi @Jetski2. This might be the easiest way to resolve your issue:

  1. Open the Fitbit app on your iPhone. Tap to open your Alta HR. Sync your device then select Remove this Device.
  2. Give it a few minutes, then go thru the steps in the app to Add a Device. This process will take you thru pairing to Bluetooth.

That should do it. Please let us know how it goes.

Hello @Jetski2, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you again @SunsetRunner, thanks for all your help.

@Jetski2, thanks for bringing this to my attention. In case you would not wish to remove the tracker from your account as @SunsetRunner mentioned, the easiest way to establish a Bluetooth "link" between your tracker and your phone is setting up Notifications or All-day Sync. Inside the Fitbit app go to Account > Alta HR > Notifications and once you enable them you will receive a pop-up asking you to "pair" your tracker with your phone, tap on "pair" for the tracker to establish the Bluetooth link with your phone. Note that the same pop-up will appear if you go to Account > Alta HR and enable All-day Sync. You can disable All-day Sync afterwards if you like.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I am also in the position of trying to get my alter HR to re-sync with my iPhone. Currently the time is incorrect and they're not speaking to each other. And when I try to set up the all day sync and notifications, it's just getting hung up and I'm wondering what to do. Do you have any advice?

Hello! I am having the same problem with pairing my Alta to my new iPhone Xs. I've tried:

- Turning bluetooth off and on

- Turning iPhone off and on

- Removed the Alta from the fitbit app, turned bluetooth off and on, set up as a new device - still no luck.

Alta is charged and nearby, worked fine with my old iPhone sitting right next to it.

Help!

UPDATE:

Never mind... Discovered Alta was still paired to the old iPhone. Turned off bluetooth on the old iPhone and it paired with the new iPhone.

I have the same issue.

Spinning wheel of death for Notifications and All Day sync, device isn’t listed/found under settings for Bluetooth. I’ve reset the app and restarted the phone. No dice.

Seems like it may be a compatibility issue with the new iOS.

Since the update earlier today my fitbit app says that my bluetooth is off on my phone, it's not.  So far unable to get it to be able to sync up.  Continues to tell me my bluetooth is off.  Had no problems other than battery drainage until the update on the fitbit app earlier today.

Hello @lizallen and @Lingber, thanks for joining us, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Thanks for joining the conversation and sharing your experience with us. @Lingber, please note that if your device is not listed under the Bluetooth devices of your phone, that means Notifications or All-day Sync haven't been successfully enabled. In this case I would like to suggest you to force-quit the app and try to enable one of them. You will receive a pop-up asking you to "Pair" the tracker to your phone, please do. Additionally, please update the Fitbit app as we have just released a new version.

@lizallen, I understand the Fitbit app is saying the Bluetooth on your phone is off when it's really not. In this case, please swipe up when in the Dashboard to bring up Control Center on your phone. Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone from here for 10 seconds, then on the app Dashboard, pull down the screen to force a sync, do this a couple times or until the message disappears and the tracker starts syncing.

Now, when it comes to the battery issues you're experiencing, please reply to me with more details about it so I can check this further.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I was not able to confirm anywhere if the FitBit [Alta] can be paired to 2 iOS devices [12.4] at the same time.  Anyone?

I have a new iPad Air and have tried to sync with the new device, but the Fitbit Alta HR program does not “find” my Bluetooth when I ask the Fitbit to “setup.”  I also lost the Fitbit connection to my iPhone 6S prior to trying to add my new device. Neither suggestion in the instruction post has worked. Any other options?

One last set of instructions to try, @Oma65613 .

  1. If the Alta HR is listed as a device on the Fitbit app, remove it.
  2. If by chance, the Alta HR is listed under Bluetooth on your iPad Air, forget it.
  3. Turn off your iPad. Go into a room that has no other bluetooth devices.
  4. Now, open the Fitbit app and try to add the Alta HR again.

Sometimes it’s a matter of isolating the Fitbit from other Bluetooth devices so it does not get “confused” during set up. Please let me know if this works.

I don’t have an official answer for you, @avincent98122 . But from my own experience, I’ve found it much easier to sync only to my iPhone 7 Fitbit app. I tried to set the app up on the iPhone and on my iPad Pro, but the results were inconsistent. Since my iPhone is always with me, I set that up for all day sync and do not even open the Fitbit app on my iPad anymore.

But ... one a side note, when I access Fitbit on the web via Safari at Fitbit.com from any device (PC laptop, iPad, etc.), my Fitbit device syncs without an issue.

Wish this had worked. Unfortunately, my Bluetooth can't find my device. So frustrating to know both are working, just not together. Looked like it should have worked, just didn't go. 😢
