IOS 12 update a "known issue" notification problems

I was not getting notifications on my Versa, I would have to hard reboot my versa every few days to get the notifications back working. I contacted fitbit support and they had me disconnect my Versa from Bluetooth and then add it as a new device. This didn't fix the problem. When I contacted fitbit support again, they told me I needed to update my IOS and that this would fix the problem. I normally don't update my IOS because my phone works fine and I don't like the issues updates tend to cause. But I wanted my fitbit to work again so I updated the IOS to 12. Now the problems are 100% worse. The time doesn't even stay synced now, so not only am I missing important notifications, I am running late, missing alarms, I can't depend on the fitbit for anything anymore. When I contacted support they said, yes this is a known issue with IOS 12. That is all they had to say. My fitbit reference call # is 304200000.

I would have much rather kept the problems I was having before the fitbit support told me to update my IOS. Why would they tell me to update when there was a "known issue" that is worse than the issue I was trying to fix!!!

Very sad because I used to love my fitbit and depend on it.

Hi @stephanieolympi, I haven't had any problems with iOS 12 -- it looks like I am on 12.3.1, now, but I don't remember any problems with earlier versions either.

But since your current issue seems to be that it won't sync at all (That is why the time on the Fitbit starts to drift), have you gone through the troubleshooting steps for syncing

There are a lot of things that can prevent proper syncing, but in my experience, syncing issues are often solved by restarting the iPhone.

Poor internet connection for the phone is also sometimes a problem, (check your in your iPhone settings for the fitbit app and make sure you've turned on background app refresh and cellular data ... when I went to Europe a while back I globally turned off cellular data for all but a few of my apps, and, having forgotten I did that, had a lot of app issues, including with Fitbit, when I got back home).  And in settings on the Fitbit app for your Versa, make sure you've got 'all day sync' on.

I have a 'just developed' syncing problem with my Charge2 and iPhone8 (iOS 12.3.1). The Fitbit client is Ver 2.94 - both phone and client are kept current.

To this point, syncing has worked perfectly, but after the last update there were a few instances where it didn't seem to transfer all data correctly between the Fitbit and the iPhone; starting yesterday (June 5), the steps started 'losing' time points (i.e. interval markers where steps per hour were met).

Yesterday, sync for this parameter failed after the first interval point, and syncing hung for several hours.  A restart on the iPhone was required to correct the sync; closing and restarting the app wasn't effective.

Today neither approach is helping - sync failed for the 11-12 interval, but was restored afterwards.  It's concerning because you can't tell what info will be synced and what won't, or when it will manifest.

@GVW — the issue you describe seems be affecting other users as well and Fitbit is working on it.  Please check this thread for updates.

Thanks for the redirect -very helpful.  Weird that some folks have been dealing with this for weeks, whereas the problem started very recently for me.

I have restarted my Iphone, Disconnected Bluetooth, reconnected fitbit, etc. I have contacted support 3 times and did everything they asked me to do. I can get it to work for a while and then it goes back to being unpredictable. When the time on my phone is wrong it is by at least a half hour, not just a few seconds. That gets fixed when I open the fitbit app on my phone. I understand the fitbit support person told me there is a known issue and they are looking into it. What makes me upset is that they told me to update my IOS to fix the problem and now tell me the IOS is the problem. My fitbit is still under warranty.

Synching of my zip now requires restarting of device and re-pairing with iPhone
