Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.
If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:
We appreciate the additional details.
Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.
Update 7/15/2018:
Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.
Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.
Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.
While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.
Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.
Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

@KateFitbit. The dashboard does not sync to my phone! I posted this yesterday and saw many other people report the same and other problems with the dashboard syncing to the App. This workaround doesn't work!

@dove2424 I'm sorry to hear this and not sure why it's not working for you. You may want to check out this article on logging food on the fitbit.com dashboard. It does work for many and definitely worth mentioning. We do want to help as many people as we can as we work on a fix.

Updated to 2.53 and now can't log all my foods. Sure, going to the website works - but it's a work-around. Frustrating. Whatever 2.53 "fixed" needs to be unfixed.

I’ll just not log food until FitBit gets the app fixed, not going through the hassle of logging food using the work around.

Oh perhaps you didn’t see my post.. Oh wait, you deleted it. stating that it violated the community guidelines?! How did the below violate anything! It was new information! I have owned 3 Fitbit’s and now have the Versa, but deleting my post may be the final straw for me. You obviously don’t even care about the issues going on with your devices or your customers.
“Also, dashboard food log isn’t syncing with my phone, so not only do I have to log food inconveniently, but my app doesn’t even show the food log correctly! I am seriously annoyed.” ~Deleted post for violating community guidelines~

I want to use my iPhone and not your **ahem** Dashboard! It use to work just fine! Looks like I will be changing to something different if this is your best answer.

I’m having similar issues when making food entries. I enter coffee creamer and I see coconut water, chia seeds become applesauce, etc. At other times when I make an entry it disappears. After using this feature for so long with no problems this is quite exasperating as I depend on it for a weight-loss class.

I decided not to download the new version but still am getting wonky entries. I tried baby carrots 4 times today and it input 20,000 calories worth of some kind of pizza! No joke.

Hi I have had the food issue for 3 or 4 days now and I have gone to the Fitbit week site to try and enter my food log but still does not work... I am not happy about this and would like to make a formal complaint... I have sent a email to some of the news outlets eg BBC Sky news and a few others about this issue .. I have screen shot this post as you have been deleting YOUR customer post from this community

My food log stopped working this afternoon, and had been working fine until then. I input the food and it immediately disappears.

Hi @Fauzi
This is on a banner at the top of the forums:
"We are aware of an issue which is causing irregularities with food logging on iOS 2.53. While we investigate, we recommend iOS users log food via the fitbit.com dashboard. Visit this discussion for updates. "

I know everyone is frustrated. Been a long time fitbit fan and user. Fitbit is always trying to improve the user experience. I believe they are working hard to fix the issue....not the first time there has been a glitch...and probably won't be the last. Rather than them having to use their resources to respond to these complaints...let them focus on what is important....getting it fixed. Patience is key here guys. Let them focus on a resolution...you and I both know it will be fixed....patience people.

WHY are these products plagued with issues? For how much people pay to obtain these things, this seems excessive.

You're right, it is NOT ideal. My protein shakes disappear, and I don't even realize it. And it does NOT update the app when I synch!

This should not of happened.... if Fitbit tested the update before they released it then I would not be moaning... for some people the watch is worthless without the app!

Correction, it did update the app .... after I turned off iphone and turned back on.

I respect your thoughts but they should NOT be putting a soft wear upgrade out until it is fully tested.
Even the smallest of companies do not do soft wear upgrades without end user testing to be 100% sure it works hence our frustration.
