In order to solve that, I'd recommend setting up your tracker as a new device by following the steps I shared here.

I had the same trouble as you when trying to replace my HR(the "searching" option forever), but what I tried was just keeping the display wake up. I pressed the button once, then I pressed it again like if you were scrolling through your stats.
