Hello @DarcyMarie93, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @khboyd, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

@khboyd, I appreciate you have joined us and let us know your issue has beenr resolved, I'm very glad.

@DarcyMarie93, please note that your Fitbit device will not sync nor pair through the Bluetooth settings on your phone but through the Fitbit app. Additionally, your device will not appear here unless you set up Notifications or All-day Sync. If you're having trouble setting it back up, I would like to suggest you the following:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Make sure you have a strong WiFi signal and that there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  3. Restart your Alta.
  4. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet and try to set up again.
  5. If you can't set up after the reboot, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet and try to set up the tracker one more time.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

The same thing happened to me and my ionic. Got it all set up just fine with the PC app, put my computer into hybernate and then went to bed. The next morning, today, I could not connect to the ionic to save my soul! Now, after wiping any trace of Fitbit from my PC I am trying to set up the ionic with my iPad.

The iPad will not manually connect to the ionic where my PC would and did. Retrieving and launching the Fitbit app to the iPad worked, but failed to recognize the ionic. I deleted the Fitbit app! Then downloaded and installed it agan.

The second time, I could connect via Bluetooth, but not via WiFi. I had to use Bluetooth for setup. Blutoothe - ionic connections is SLOW! - but it did connect. Setup started downloading, the ionic stayed on until 35% downloading. Then the ionic turned itself off and the iPad lost contact with it.

Now all I see on the Fitbit app is "Looking for ionic..." And, Lost connection to your ionic. Please stay close to it while it is being set up." Bah! The ionic is only inches away with the charger connected.

This is rediculous! The Fitbit app is as dumb as a box of rocks. What are the programmers thinking? What are the hardware engineers thinking. It is becoming evident that with Fitbit, ionic, and the Fitbit app, not much thinking is involved with this product.

If I don't get some answers that fix it permanantly, I am going to return the ionic to Amazon for a reffund, abandon this nonsense, and write a scathing review.

Fitbit always blames your Bluetooth connection or your phone or anything that isn't their shoddy design. I've had my Charge 3 almost two months now, have had nothing but grief from it, and the only thing that solves the looking for tracker problem is multiple restarts of my Fitbit -- restarting my phone, resetting data on either device, re-pairing the devices, turning off Bluetooth on other devices, etc. -- does nothing. The problem is solely with my Charge 3,

I'm having this problem with a flex 2 and my Samsung A8 phone it started a few days ago

I've rebooted the tracker, removed and reinstalled the fitbit app, and added the travker as a new fitbit

My phone is still constantly telling me it needs to sync and says I need to link the tracker

It's getting really annoying I've had the tracker since Xmas with no problems

I have had this issue since purchasing my alta hr in july. I have no other bluetooth devices and none of the other troubleshooting advice has helped for more than one sync.... then it goes back to "looking for device".
Basically I just have to keep trying and trying and trying until finally it suddenly finds my fitbit and syncs.
Not good enough... you have had so many people reporting the same issue. The issue is within your app... obviously.
I notice the tone of the moderators getting more intolerant as time goes on..... as if we are annoying you guys with our constant complaining.
This is just one of many bugs within this application. But it boggles my mind that after so many years this issue has not been resolved.

This is not a solution. Other people nearby use Bluetooth. I cannot ask them to turn everything off! My device responds to phone events such as a text arriving, so it is connected. Why will it not SYNCH data? This is hugely frustrating.

This is a HUGE problem, my Versa will not connect and receive notifications at work, only at home, due to being surrounded by many people with bluetooth devices, so now the only time I really need to be able to get messages on my wrist I cannot? What is the point of having the Versa now?

Best Answer

I now never open the app unless my phone is next to my device - that reduces how often it gets "lost". Other Bluetooth devices seem fine, so I can't understand why Fitbit finds it so hard.

Hi!  My son was using my new Charge 3 for about a year.  Now I have it and am trying to get it to sync to the app on a Win10 Lenovo PC.  If the Fitbit app has been off for a while (a day?), it will work hard to sync while the blue bar goes across, although it soon stops.  When the sync fails, I see on the Windows Bluetooth control panel that the Charge 3 is paired but no longer connected.

It is deleted from my son's phone.  I have deleted and re-paired it.  Reset & reloaded the tracker, reinstalled the app (It's been a month - is there a new version?).  Turned off many other device bluetooths, even the one for my wife's Alta.  Is there a way to troubleshoot this?

Oh!  I found one of your last posts.  Charge 3 Version is 20001.63.5.  It has appeared to sync about 3 times in 2 weeks, and collected data one of those times - March 7th.

The app was downloaded from the built-in Microsoft Store.

The official answer is that my phone is only a Galaxy A5 and Fitbit does not include that in its list of supported devices! Keep the phone and fitbit close as much as possible and don't run the app is the fitbit is not within range is the best I can offer - it usually works now, but occasionally gets "lost".

Hi @MarcoGFitbit - I am also having problems with my fitbit charge 2 not syncing with the Fitbit app. It just started out of the blue yesterday with the last sync time showing in the late afternoon. The device does show up in the iOS bluetooth list, but in the Fitbit app it says 'looking' and shows last sync time of yesterday & that the battery was @ 35% the last time it saw it. I think have tried most all of the troubleshooting steps mentioned here other than removing it from my phone and trying to re-setup the device because that warned me I would lose all unsynced data which I would like to avoid if possible. Here is what I have tried:

- Rebooting the Charge 2 - after the first reboot I took it off the charger and it claimed the battery was low so I plugged it back in and let it charge until it was full

- Soft rebooting my iOS device

- Hard rebooting my iOS device

- Rebooting the Charge 2 again - after this reboot the battery level reported a bit less than full, despite it having a full charge at least shortly before the reboot. I let it charge again and it quickly returned to full according to the watch display, so I'm guessing/hoping this is just known/expected behavior right after a reboot

Like I said, I have stopped short of removing the device from the app due to the warning of unsynced data loss as I have unsynced data between yesterday afternoon and today. I also considered removing the Fitbit app and reinstalling it, but I suspect that would be even more drastic and still result in the same data loss at a minimum. Any assistance you or others could provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
