Hi, @Jaykay08 , the calories you are seeing will be your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calories, which are the calories your body is estimated to burn just to keep you alive (heart beating, lungs expanding and contracting, blood circulating, digestion going, etc...). Fitbit estimates these calories based on your gender, age, height and weight, and your dashboard will show these even if you are not wearing your Fitbit. It will reset to zero every night at midnight, so you will always wake up with calories burned...
Once you are wearing your Fitbit, and getting active, you will get extra "credit" for all the calories your Fitbit estimates you are getting from your activities.
As for your extra steps, sometimes, especially with wrist worn trackers, you will get false "steps" from driving. They usually only amount to a small percentage of your daily steps (unless, perhaps you are a truck driver), but if you are concerned that they are throwing off your stats you can delete them by following the instructions here .
I hope this helps! We've all been noobies! Enjoy your Fitbit, and keep us posted how you get on!
