Fitbit Update 5/22/2019:
Hey all,
Today we've released the latest Fitbit for iOS app version 2.94. In this new app version, we've temporarily disabled this notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized." We will continue to assess all the user feedback and work to improve this experience.
Please update the Fitbit app if you haven't yet. I'm now closing this thread from further comments. Thanks again for all your feedback!
Fitbit Update 5/13/2019:
Hi Everyone- Based on customer feedback, we are working on an update to the notification and hope to have further information to share soon. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your feedback.
Fitbit Update 4/18/2019:
I've merged a few threads together. Receiving the notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized" after closing out of the Fitbit app is expected behavior. The Fitbit app needs to run in the background in order to enable features like all-day sync and notifications. If you are double tapping the home button, or swiping up into multi-tasking, and then swiping to close the app, you should see this message.
I appreciate your feedback and have passed it on to the team. I hear that you are unhappy with this notification. Our team is aware, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future.
We'll continue to monitor the situation, and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers. We understand that this isn't the resolution you're hoping for, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products. We're sorry for any trouble.

Welcome on board @Gooders1, it's nice to see a new member around! This is expected behavior. The Fitbit app needs to run in the background in order to enable features like all-day sync and notifications. If you are double tapping the home button, or swiping up into multi-tasking, and then swiping to close the app, you should see this message.
As my friend @Heather-S mentioned, my notifications and other data work like normal as well. So I'd recommend taking a look at Why won't my Fitbit device sync? if you're having syncing difficulties.
I've moved your post to the iOS App as there are more chances to get related replies here.
We'll be around if you need further assistance.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

I’ve been getting the same message also. Contacted Fitbit today never really got an answer but I Think it’s the new update that they did and it’s just messed everything up. Fitbit like I said never really gave me an answer it’s just irritating every time you go in to add your water or food or that you get notified every time.

This is the same thing Fitbit told me over the phone and I’m not doing anything different than I have been for the last year and still getting this message every time I go in to log water food etc. it’s just annoying every time now that I go into the app to do the same thing I’ve been doing for a year with no trouble and now there is an issue .

It really is very annoying, particularly as it pops up just where I have other app badges that I often use just after closing Fitbit.
Following the advice of hippychick1501 I have changed the way notifications appear and that seems to have gotten rid of the annoying pop up.

I'm in total agreement with the other users. The message is an annoying nuisance. Please discontinue it very soon.

I am also having this issue. It had never happened before the latest software update, and I’m hoping for a quick fix because it is very annoying.

If my message was considered inflammatory, then the majority of all other posts should be removed as well. Fitbit as an organization has an opportunity to turn this around and maintain their current customer base. Unfortunately they are doing the opposite.

Why did you do this? Who would think that this was a good idea? I don’t like to keep the app open all day because it uses battery power to stay open.
Stupid idea.

I don’t want to see the notification. It’s annoying. I’m not going to leave the app open all day long. I close the app to save my battery life. Please send out an update that removes the nuisance notification. Thank you!
