Fitbit Update 03/09/17
Hi everyone -- Some good news to share! This issue should now be resolved!
If you were previously experiencing this issue on iOS, please try it again as our team has pushed out a fix. Feel free to give me some feedback about your post-fix experience. Thank you for your patience as we worked to get you all back on track.
Fitbit Update 2/28/17
It was recently brought to our attention that some iOS users are experiencing their mile splits for GPS workouts don’t add up to the total distance of their workout. Our team is aware of this issue and is currently working towards a fix.

There are major issues with distance accuracy, Fitbit need to change the status of the above thread to unsolved. As it stands, the Charge 2 HR is of zero value for training or any sort of distance tracking, mine is typically out by about 20%. The device has lots of promise but its not fair to ask customers to wait for engineers to fix bugs that should have been sorted prior to release. Customers don't buy the watch to be a part of Fitbits product development.
Please do the right thing, stop marking the topics as solved and issue a recall.

I've been using the iOS app for well over a year and have never had this happen to me... I walked 4 miles, a known route, watched the FITBIT app roll over to 4 miles ( got the voice prompt, too), yet the log only shows 3.48 miles traveled. Even the map shows 4 miles... The units and country are set properly, too.
map shows 4.01 miles, log shows 3.48 miles
UPDATE 03/01/17:
To rule out bluetooth "competition," I used wired headphones during my latest workout (thus the Fitbit being the only bluetooth connected device), and the log was STILL off from the actual total and splits (actual: 3.38 miles / Fitbit log: 3.32 miles).

I'm having this issue, too. The app is also incorrectly logging my pace.

@tracey2 @Pjd1300 @Quarkala That's very strange. To help investigate, can you please answer the following questions:
1. What type of iOS device are you using?
2. What iOS version is your device running (ie iOS 10.2, iOS 8 ,etc)?
3. Were you using the Apps GPS, Surge's built-in GPS, or Charge 2/Blaze's Connected GPS to track your workout?
4. Does force quitting and reopening the App help?
Please keep me posted.

1. What type of iOS device are you using? iPhone 6s
2. What iOS version is your device running (ie iOS 10.2, iOS 8 ,etc)? iOS 10.2.1
3. Were you using the Apps GPS, Surge's built-in GPS, or Charge 2/Blaze's Connected GPS to track your workout? The App/iPhone GPS (with a Charge HR).
4. Does force quitting and reopening the App help? I tried this, but the log has not changed.
Incidentally I went back to my last few "tracked" activities (those where I use the Fitbit App to track my walks) and noticed the discrepancies started on Wednesday, February 22:
The first occurrence..
Inconsistent, but it's still happening...
and again later that same day...
There does not appear to be any consistency to the discrepancies, either...

I trained for a half marathon using the exercise tracker and never had a problem. Suddenly, as of Tuesday, Feb. 21st, the summary does not match the miles logged or the average pace- just like the others posted here. Is there something to be done?

Same here. There does seem to be an anomaly at mile seven from today's hike, but it doesn't account for the difference in totals.

1. What type of iOS device are you using? iPhone SE
2. What iOS version is your device running (ie iOS 10.2, iOS 8 ,etc)? iOS 10.2.1
3. Were you using the Apps GPS, Surge's built-in GPS, or Charge 2/Blaze's Connected GPS to track your workout? Apps GPS (it is more accurate, quicker to find satellites and less battery intensive than the built in Surge GPS)
4. Does force quitting and reopening the App help? No.. I am having to do this regularly for the heart rate bug though!

I haveexactly the same problem and noticed it first on Wednesday. My Alta wristband is recording miles, steps etc perfectly normally and correctly, but when I go into the app, the miles are completely under recorded.
1. I am using an iPhone 7
2. I am on iOS 10.2.1
3. I am using the app/iPhone GPS with an Alta wristband.
4. Force quitting and reopening the app does not help. I have also rebooted my Alta, no joy.
Please advise?

Restarting doesn't help

Same here - issue started on Feb 22.
E.g. This morning I walked 3.13 miles - during the exercise it shows the correct distance, and when I complete the exercise for a short while it shows the correct distance in the banner while it's calculating and then it flips to the wrong distance and pace - resulting in 0.94 miles instead of the correct 3.13 miles:

I agree this needs to be fixed. Reinstalling of the app doesn't seem to do the trick
FYI, I think this is something to do with the way the app is gathering the GPS data from the phone's sensor

Sounds like tracker is not picking up first 10-15 mins of run. Under exercise it says it only picks up exercise after first 10-15 mins.
