Receiving constant notification to turn on "Location Services"

As you can see in the attached image, I am constantly getting notifications telling me to turn on Location Services to ‘Always’. I have no intention of doing that, and it was never an issue before. Is there a way to get rid of this message? Thanks

I have the same complaint. This is a pointless notification. It should be purged from the Fitbit software.

I appreciate you have taken the time to share your feedback with us. Please note that if you want to turn off Location Services for the Fitbit app but you're still receiving the push Notifications showed above, please go to your phone Settings > Fitbit and turn off "Bluetooth Sharing". The push Notifications should stop popping up in your phone.

I hope this helps, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

How is that helpful, then we will no longer be able to sync our Fitbit to the app?

Please note that even if you turn off "Bluetooth Sharing" from the phone Settings for the Fitbit app, your device will continue syncing when you open the Fitbit app.

I hope this resolves this situation, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

I'm getting this notification now too.

I turned location off when I noticed the app was accessing it for no reason that I can tell. Clockface doesn't use location, and all installed apps have it turned off. So why does Fitbit want my location? It's been off for weeks, and I haven't missed any functionality.

I am back to receiving these all the time again, and worse the option to turn off "Bluetooth Sharing" is no longer there.

Is there a fix for this?

Best Answer

Marco, this is not helpful at all. I also keep getting constant Location Services Disabled notifications. I want to get my text and other notifications on my FitBit. This recurring notification began after installing the most recent app update, so that appears to be the cause. Please have your team correct the app code.

Yes! Same here! Very annoying! Wasn’t like this before the last update!

I will never give Fitbit my location! There is absolutely no need for it!

Best Answer

I too am getting these annoying notifications. They are also appearing every time I open the Fitbit app. I answer the question no thanks but it keeps coming back.  This all started after the last Fitbit update.

Best Answer

No, this does not resolve the problem.  You guys need to fix the software.

Admit you messed up and fix it.   This is truly outrageous privacy concern.

I bought the watch so I could track exercise when needed (e.g., choose exercise--> run on the watch).  Now you are forcing us to turn off location services, but remember to turn it on as well when tracking exercise.  This is not a design choice.   You messed up your software and won't admit it.

Neither of your responses in this thread work.

Turning off notifications from showing on the iPhone screen is pointless when they continue to pop up every time I open the Fitbit app.

And turning off Bluetooth doesn’t work because then you can’t sync your Fitbit.

I’ve also tried turning off auto-location and that does not help.

This question/response should not be marked as resolved.

Is there any update on this issue? I too have experienced the major annoyance of Fitbit notifications repeatedly trying to get me to turn on Location Services. I would like to be able to stop these notifications without opting out of Fitbit notifications altogether. As with many aspects of Fitbit utilities and functions, this seems inexplicably sub-optimal. 😞 😞 😞

I've been getting these notifications on my phone too. Using iOS with a Charge 3. Turned off location services and looked for a way to turn of the constant notifications in the app. Was driving me crazy. Played around with the watch a little and found the settings section on the watch (not the app). There is a setting on the watch to turn off the GPS request from the phone. Turned that off just now. Hoping this will resolve the issue. I'm amazing after searching the forums that I haven't seen a single things about this setting withing the watch itself. Seems like a lot of confusion and annoyance out there about this issue.

I have a Versa and don’t have that option in my settings so that won’t work for me. Thanks though - maybe it can help someone else.

I have a Versa 2 and I think I have solved this problem. Go into Exercise, then choose an exercise like walking or running. Click on the gear at the top right of the screen to adjust the settings. Scroll down to Connected GPS. If it says On, tap it and it will switch to Off. Seems to have worked for me.

I have the Inspire HR, with the Fitbit app running on iOS 13.3.1, and  I started getting the "Location Access and Bluetooth Sharing" notification every time I open the app beginning about a week ago.  I tried this and it didn't work - GPS is already turned off in my app.  My Fitbit battery life has also suddenly declined exponentially; I used to get 5-7 days of battery, now I get 3-4.  I just charged it 24 hours ago and it's down to 80% now.  I got it exactly one year ago, so I figured the sudden battery decline was a built-in way of getting me to purchase a new one (I won't, because it's not sustainable for the environment to replace electronics every year).  Did a bunch of troubleshooting, but still can't fix the problem.  Location services used to be set to "while using...," now set to "never."  Didn't fix it, but I feel better.  Had they not caused me this problem, I would have left location services on "while using..." indefinitely.  At this point, I'll start shopping around for something other than Fitbit.

Did this work Locrue? And if so, where is the setting on the watch? I've tried to find it but cannot. I have a Charge 3 Special so it should be the same.

That is not a solution!  My Fitbit syncs half way until I click on “no thanks”.  I even thought what the hell....-and allowed access.  I still get the pop up!
