Redesigned Sleep experience now in the iOS app

Why are the sleep scores and data displayed differently? I assume it’s the new ios update, but I preferred the former presentation.

I bought my FitBit FOR the sleep stages app. I'm on my 4th FitBit and I'm ready for an upgrade.

Then I opened the app this morning to check my sleep stats and found this ridiculous new page that is SO substandard to the old one it's pathetic.

I've just come from the Apple Watch page - looking at screenshots of their sleep stages app.

If FitBit doesn't care enough about loyal customer satisfaction to give us a CHOICE between the old and new sleep app - I will be moving to Apple.

Agreed.  The new chart is practically unreadable.  Please roll it back.

I totally agree with you! Ever since google took over its been going downhill fast!!! I've been staying with Fitbit because its affordable. Now I think I'm finally ready to look into something else. Its hard when I don't want watches that connect to speaking in your wrist or emailing phones.

Great question! Who thinks up these new ideas that are worse than the ones they had. Bring back the old version, please

Fitbit has removed one of the most valuable features - Sleep restoration.  Removal of this feature is enough for me to rethink my product selection.  Without this feature as part of the premium service that I pay for, it's not worth keeping.  Not sure how the staff came up with this new screen but who ever made the decision should be doing something else to make a living instead of screwing up what was working.

I hate the new sleep graph. Just leave things alone.  It worked fine and was easy to read.  Put it back to how it was.

I agree. New look is awful. Ni warning either

I agree 100% I also use Fitbit mostly for sleep and this redesign is way less effective. Everything is hidden between different options and tabs. Terrible design.

I’m so glad the app is more accessible now, but they actually decreased the visible contrast on a lot of these graphs. Which would be the opposite of accessible for people who have partial vision. There was definitely a way to make it more accessible without making it more difficult to use. Also, they could’ve just made it two separate modes.

Having read comments from the visually impaired users and how the change is helping them, the equitable solution is to make the new version an option for anyone who needs the screen readers to help them interpret and “see” the data, and make the former version another option to choose from. That way those who either need or like the new one can still have it, but those of us who prefer the old one (especially those of us who use the Fitbit mostly FOR the sleep tracking) can still have the format they’re used to and depend on for easy comparisons of historical data. The new one is gobbledegook to my eyes, personally, but I can definitely understand how it makes accessibility options easier for those who need it. Add a little drop down menu for each version or a fixed setting that can be selected in setup, and viola… everyone wins.

I have both, but my Apple Watch is like 2nd gen…? 3rd maybe? I really only use it for specific workouts/races, as the battery life is poor compared to Fitbit. I hate having it recharge it constantly, and I’m too cheap to upgrade since I disable everything except the fitness stuff anyway. That’s why I have one of the simpler Fitbits, too - I don’t want all the bells and whistles. Just good sleep tracking and the steps/workout tracking. C’est la vie!

I posted this morning about the awful “upgrades” and how I’m considering a move to Apple for the first time in what must be 10 years with Fitbit.

No idea why the post was taken down, but the changes are awful. Very out of touch with the users.

If it helps some, when I go to my Fitbit Dashboard on my computer, the old graphs and colors are still there. There's definitely some comfort in just seeing them in that format again. So much easier to read. When I mouse click any part of the graph it tells me how long I was in that mode instead of with new layout now just listing times and I gotta do the math. Days, months, years all still there in old format.

I've been a Fitbit user since 2016. Many changes made over the years I don't like. This one probably the worst of them all especially in terms of layout, functionality and aesthetics.

But I also know that this one will not be changed back unless massive failures start taking place because of this new layout. In time like all the other changes, I'll get used to them. Everything I use is Apple except for my watch which is Fitbit. Why? Because Apple watch has only 18 hour battery life. Ridiculous. My Fitbit lasts 6 days on one charge. That alone is a deal breaker for me. Plus I have 8 years of data saved to see and compare. So I doubt I'm going anywhere. But changes like this sure make me think about it. Clearly I'm not alone.

Anyway, the Computer and Tablet version does have the sleep layout still for those that don't mind looking at it that way.

Here's how in simple steps:

1- If you're on these forums on your computer or tablet, just look at top right of this page and click on 'Dashboard'.

2- Then go to your Sleep Tile on left side of page and with your mouse hover over your sleep time.

3- As you hover over sleep time, directly below the sleep tile box will be the option 'See More'.

4- Click on See More.

It's all right there and I do find some comfort with it. You can even edit sleep from there just like from your phone. And can customize dates you want to see which was never available on my phone.

You can also simply bookmark your dashboard page and access it directly from here on out.

No, it's not what I want or probably anybody here (I prefer it back on my iPhone) but I've been around long enough to know Fitbit won't change this one. So at least this helps some unless they change that somewhere down the road as well. Hope it's helpful to some.

I should add though I don't see Fitbit changing this new layout, they WILL at times add a feature or fix parts of it people find missing. For me, when I click on the parts of the graph I'd like to see actual minutes (like old layout and still on computer version) instead of sleep times spent in that portion of the graph and I gotta do the math. So parts or additions they often will add but changing out whole thing ain't going to happen.

Totally agree. Really poor and hard to read. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

It’s horrible. Looks like they said to the apprentice go do some coding from the 1990’s.

I agree - it’s awful. Its impossible to read and the benchmark part is meaningless.

Well i didn’t think any could get worse than the last September Fitbit app debacle but this new stuff for Sleep is horrendous.  It is impossible to understand or read.  It doesn’t fit neatly on the screen - the huge lettering is awful as are the colours.  I can’t tell what the data is telling me what has happened to the benchmark graph - where are my figures to compare with the benchmark.  The red and blue graph was clear and understandable.

The only thing it tells me is that I am a hedgehog.  Well I’ve known that since 1st April.  Unfortunately I renewed my premium on 1st April but I think I will be the last time - this is a step too far

i would go on and on but i need to spend the time sorting out ‘what’s what’ Iin all this crappy app
