Resolved 6/11/2018: Account Pending Deletion Error message

Update 6/11/2018: Hello! This issue has been resolved in app version 2.52. Please update your app if you haven't already. Thanks for your patience and flexibility with using the workaround.

Update 5/30/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks for your patience as we work on a fix. We believe this may have to do with account settings. If you are still unable to log in, I have a workaround that you might want to try:

- Open your device's settings menu.
- Tap on 'General', 'About', and then 'Name'.
- Remove any special characters or symbols.
- Save your settings.
- Attempt to login to the Fitbit app again.

I'll continue to update this thread as we work toward a fix. Thanks again for your reports.

Update 5/26/2018: Thanks again for your reports as we continue to work on this issue. If you continue to experience this, if available, please trying logging on with another device or on Fitbit.com. Thanks for your patience as we work on a fix.

Updated 5/24/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few threads together. We are aware that some users are being logged out of their account and when trying to log back in, and receive a notification 'this account is pending deletion' when this request was not made.

Please note: Though @MarcoGFitbit had some good tips that worked initially, at this time we do not recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app, this will not fix the issue. Also, resetting your password and updating the app will not resolve the issue.

I'll update this thread as I hear more, thanks very much for your reports!

Hi @KateFitbit

Thank you for having your team find a way around the error and staying on top of this!  Though this worked for the time being,  having a good portion of your users change their device name from something that the device allowed to something that one app on their device only now does not allows does not seem like a solution.   I would think the team would want to get to the root of the problem and fix the backend code that is causing the problem and not have the users change their personal device name which can cause confusion in the future when they go to sync or backup. Especially since the FitBit app originally did originally allow device special characters.  Would you agree?

Thanks again for your help!

It works wonderfully by removing special characters. Thanks but by that means I can’t use special characters in my iPhone name.

I removed the special characters, logged into the app and then changed the name back.

I had a $ in my name. After the suggestion I removed this and was immediately able to login to the app again. Thanks!

@HEMIII we are working on a fix so you can get your special characters back and should have that soon. I'll update the thread once it's available. Thanks for understanding!

Well. Kate. Thanks a lot for a weird solution. I don’t know how come just name of ur phone make so much difference to the app. I had $ in my name and I removed it and I was able to login and changed my name back to my original with $. So it’s still working.

Well done guys. Atleast no update to fix this. You guys are doing a great job. I love my fitbit.

Yo man. I had to rename my phone with no special characters and then log onto Fitbit. Once I did that it all synced.

I also renamed my phone to what it was prior after I synced and it still works correctly. Good luck.

Why does the name of my iPhone cause errors when trying to log in to fitbit?  Is this an issue you are working on fixing?

Hi,

the fix does not work. I have any special character in my  name and i get the Account pending deletion error even with a fake account.

Please let me know if you have other solutions.

Thanks

Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you. The only thing I can suggest is remember to change the name of your PHONE, not Fitbit account.

So I switched my phone name to “bob” with no aterisks and it worked like a charm. Good luck!

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well, @bboysardo, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate some of you have come back and let us know that changing your name in the general settings of your phone has resolved this issue.

@bboysardo, I appreciate you have tried this workaround already, our team is working towards a prompt and proper solution for this issue, once we have more information to share with you about this situation, I'll make sure to update this thread accordingly, in the meantime if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.
