@sgrayster Are you not seeing "send" in the top right of screen? After I start typing message, it appears. Are you using most recent version of the app?

As @Kmransom123 says, you should be able to see the field for typing the text and at the top right corner, the option to send it as you can see below:
If you're not seeing this, I can recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app and see if this makes any difference.
