Why do I now need to pay for data from the fitness tracker I bought?
The whole purpose of buying a fitness tracker is to get access to the data from it, now we're being asked to pay again to access the data? Seem like doubling dipping?
There was no indication when I bought the tracker that I would need to pay a subscription to access the data from it.
In particular why are the sleeping heart rate and restlessness stats no longer accessible?
I actually like the new dashboard, I think it looks good and is functional, it's just disappointing that a cash grab is being made to try to get us to pay for something we already paid for when we bought the trackers.

Yup, the romance is over for me too. I'll never buy anything from Fitbit again.

@Androidus wrote:Hmm...80.00 per year for a couple of new features. That would pay for a new Apple Watch in 6 or 7 years. No brainer!
Let me help you with your Math...
Fitbit Charge 3: $229 AUD
Fitbit Premium: $120 / year
First year total cost for Fitbit: $349
Apple Watch 3: $319 (So the Apple Watch 3 is cheaper straight out of the gate)
Or Apple Watch 5: $649 (Which is equivalent to Fitbit Charge 3 + ~3.5 years of premium)
The Apple Watch is the far superior product, and if you move up to Fitbit's still inferior competitor to the Apple Watch, then the comparison looks even worse.
Maybe not quite the 'no brainer' you thought...

Yeah, I didn’t sit down with a calculator but I knew instinctively the inferior Fitbit with premium would be way more expensive than the Apple Watch. Thanks for putting the actual numbers down. Even more of a no brainer than I thought!

I thought you were saying that the Fitbit was still competitive as it would take 6-7 years of premium to be able to buy an Apple Watch?
Anyway, Fitbit's value proposition has taken a hit since springing its' 'Premium' subscription on us.

I agree as we used to get some of the restlessness info, etc. and now they take it away and make us pay! Apple and Tesla continually upgrade their devices and wouldn't think of charging. I'm looking for another device. Besides, the bands always break on these things.

I’m also very disappointed that I have to pay additional money to get my own data analyzed. Whether it be resting heart rate or sleep score, the concept is the same. I bought the fit bit to track that this kind of data. The raw data without any type of analysis is useless.
I hope you address this soon,
Sharrone

Well, today i have officially stopped wearing my Fitbit Ionic after 3 days of wearing it side by with a new Garmin VivoActive 4. The sleep data isn't as good the Garmin, but the data on breathing, the PulseOx, and the stress analysis is definitely worth the switch for me. Added bonus... I'm not giving even more data about myself to Google.
I am disappointed in Fitbit's decision to collect data on it's users and then charge them for the privilege of accessing it. At this point, it looks like will no longer be a Fitbit customer... we will see what the future holds.
So long Fitbit and thanks for all the fish.

Lizzy, your response is typical of a company that really doesn’t care. I bought a Garmin watch and couldn’t be happier. That’s another lost customer.

Your message indicate that the fitbit still shows sleep, just not the extra data. My Fitbit shows nothing for sleep.. Should it? Changing service delivery to current clients without notice is really poor conduct.
