We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

this is my 3rd & last Fitbit product. Sorry but not chasing down disappearing Bluetooth links, changing settings, etc. Everything was fine until the change to the “upgraded” interface. All I want is my daily steps, see my IMs on my watch, and track my weight. The rest is garbage I don’t want or need. Once my blaze is dead which seems like where it’s heading the way it inconsistently charges I am through with Fitbit. Very unfortunate.

I have the exact same issue. I don’t like my messages previewed on my phone either. It was all running well until I did the iOS13 update yesterday. Will this be fixed???

Hi there
Will the issue regarding message previews on iphones be rectified??? This is obviously an issue with your Fitbit customers as it was never a problem prior to iOS 13 update. Please please fix this issue!
no one wants their private messages available to read 🤷🏻:female_sign:😕

I am on Android and I am having the same problem, my fitbit shows the wrong time and I cannot reset it. My phone cannot find my fitbit and it will not sync. Really getting tired of all the problems with fitbit, I am on my 4th one and will not buy another one.

My Alta HR is doing the same thing after I updated my phone to iOS 13. Tried all the suggested fixes and nothing. My phone app will still sync with the Alta, but when I go into my bluetooth list, my Alta won't even pop up in it anymore. Extremely annoyed and frustrated. Might just go back to wearing my Fossil Q...

After the update, I am receiving Snapchat and Instagram notifications on my Versa but I am still not receiving phone calls or texts. My Fitbit will also notify me when I am on an active call. Any ideas how to get texts and phone calls?

I lost notifications as well. I’ve reset to factory settings. I’ve turned it off and on. I’ve turned Bluetooth off and on. Now it won’t even sync continuously or allow me to change clock faces. Help. Please.

My problem is not that I STOPPED receiving notifications since the 13.1 update, but that I am receiving MORE and too frequently! and touching the Close X does not seem to prevent for long. One notification from my Calendar woke me at 5 AM! I checked my Calendar and it was not to be until 15 minutes before- TOMORROW! and it has happened THREE times again today.

Prior to the update though, I didn’t have to have previews set to “always” or “when unlocked” and I was still able to get notifications on my Fitbit. That’s the way I’d prefer it for privacy. Is this part of the issue being addressed? Don’t really want anyone near my phone being able to read my messages.

I found a fix for the problem with not getting notifications on my Versa after the iOS update and wanted to share it. I was getting very frustrated and then I found this! Obviously I have notifications turned on everywhere and have been in multiple chats with support and nothing we tried worked and they had no fix in site. So I found this by accident this morning. Hold in the left button until a screen opens, they call this the power tray I’ve been told. There is yet another place for screen wake and notifications need to be on. Mine was off somehow maybe during an update or by accident. But it’s on now and I’m getting all my notifications again!! This is with a Versa, iPhone 11, and iOS 13.1. I hope you all try it and it works. I know I’m stoked about it!!
