We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Yes I think it's an on going issue. It's bull**ahem** because we can't even use our fitbit.

I have a Versa. I’ve had this issue now for almost 2 weeks. I can get calls  but no texts unless it’s on show previews. I don’t want previews. I’ve never had previews. Why would this happen? When will this be fixed? I’ve done all the things everyone has recommended at least 5 times. I’ve reset the versa. Deleted the app. Deleted the Versa from Bluetooth, all of it. NOTHING has worked. I’m ready to get an Apple Watch. Very very frustrated.

I’m the same, I don’t feel like fitbit are doing enough to sort the problem out, we aren’t being updated about the issue at all. I did email them and they responded pretty quick but only to say it was an ongoing issue and that they were still working on it!!!!!!!!

I agree. Now I see there will be another issue with daylight savings time. They cannot fix the first problem.

I had to go to Settings >Fitbit>Bluetooth and turn it on, to make mine be recognized and sync. Hope that helps.

You might be able to get it to work if you follow all the steps they've posted BUT your phone will now show every message on lock screen. No privacy there. I just want it to work the way it did and was advertised to when I bought it.

Hi,

I'm having problems with notifications, but different to not receiving any. I keep getting the same notification coming up on my Alta several times, all through the day and night! The calendar reminders never come up on time but once they start coming up they can buzz as many as 20 time her hour.

I've restarted my phone and my fitbit.

Any advice very welcome!

Thanks.

Can’t get my Fitbit to sync and now it won’t track my running distance! I followed all instructions.. so frustrating as I’m training for a half marathon

I have not tried a newer FitBit product, Versa 2. I am still experiencing
notification and sync issues with my original Versa. Since I just got my
Versa not very long ago, I am not considering purchasing another at this
time.

This is so frustrating! I have to restart and sync my Versa several times off and on all day to get my notifications!!! This is so crazy. Often when I try to sync it does not recognize my versa.
This is taking way too long to resolve

After getting no help from FitBit- these forums helped as I saw people started getting text notifications if “show preview” is on. I tried that and started getting texts again. So ridiculous- I DONT like people being able to see my texts on my phone but that appears to be the only way to get the messages back on my Versa- which was one of the biggest reasons I chose the Versa. Oh- and this was after my account was hacked and someone got into my account and changed my password and email.  Feeling like it’s time to get an Apple Watch.

I did all the things. My Fitbit Alta doesn’t show texts, but will give me calendar updates. Is there a timeline when this will be fixed? I’m trying to be patient, but a month later, I’m frustrated.

Not having notifications was nothing compared to what happened when I tried to fix the notifications. Now the whole screen is blank and no troubleshooting has fixed that. I wish I hadn’t noticed the notifications so at least I would still have my screen! I highly recommend NOT trying to fix the notifications until they have figured out how to not make the situation worse. It was restarting my Charge 3 that lost the screen.
