We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I have done everything in the forum to fix my notification issue with my Charge 3. NOTHING has worked. I upgrade my phone a couple weeks ago and again tried all of the “fixes” in the forum and still no change. I receive phone calls, calendar events, but NO text messages. This has been ongoing for over 2 months now. When or how do I fix this. I’ve only had my charge 3 for a few months. This is very disappointing because I depend on my watch to show my text when I’m not able to directly look at my phone.

Like a lot of people, I had this issue. I just updated last night. The fix for me was to put the previews on when unlocked and it seems to work. However, I really don’t want to have to do this because I want to keep them private. I was looking at Fitbit alternatives and looked at Garmin. They have a message on their website that says it’s also happening with their products and that it’s every fitness tracker with alerts. It’s apparently an iOS 13 issue.

I can confirm it’s happening on Garman also. I have both and after iOS 13 I lost the ability to receive notifications On both devices.

My phone can't find my Fitbit Inspire HR.
I have tried all the steps here : https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Fitbit-tracker-not-visible-in-Bluetooth-settings-unable-to-s... and the tips on this thread.
The HR is at 100%. I have restarted both the phone and the tracker. I have turned Bluetooth off and on. I have tried every combination of these and I am unable to sync and see a message: "device not found."
I have also tried setting it up as a new device but my phone can't find the HR as a new device either.
I'm out of ideas.

I turned on message previews in my notification settings on the phone and now I’m getting the notifications through the fitbit. I don’t like having the previews on because I work with nosy kids for my job. One look at my phone and the message is available for anyone to read (face recognition).
I didn’t need previews on before to receive the notifications so I don’t get why this is the new normal. Part of why I got the fitbit is because it was cheaper than the Apple Watch and tracks sleep. At this point, the Apple Watch is seeming more helpful than the Fitbit. Get it together, fitbit.

Exactly why I am frustrated! It worked perfectly with no previews and now that setting has to be on!

This is by far the worst e perience I have had with Fitbit. My inspire HR has not sent notifications 95% of the time I have had it, almost a year. No matter what upgrade my phone has it doesn’t work. And if you buy a product that is supposed to sync with your phone you should not have to continue connecting and disconnecting to make it work. Just a terrible product. Fitbit should allow returns and swap it out for a new one that works.

Fit bit would respond in a live chat telling me to disconnect in blue tooth and then reconnect. Maybe 1 out of 10 times it would work and I’d get one notification then it would stop. With the company announcing they are aware of the problem states that it is a big problem that everyone has. So disappointing and frustrating

thank you for this!!!!!!!
I've tried EVERYTHING and the only thing that I was missing was
iMessage > notifications > preivew > always on or when unlocked.
I had mine set to never, and literally the instant i changed it to when unlocked, the notifications started rolling in.
I've been without text notifications for AN ENTIRE MONTH! I was ready to give up on my fitbit

Thanks for posting this! Wouldn’t have thought of this one since the phone is still locked but the message shows up on the Fitbit!

Hi Matthew! I have a Flex 2. Since I updated to the new IOS, I no longer revive text alerts on my Flex 2. I have followed your instructions twice and it still does not work. It has been over almost a month. When will FitBit fix this?

Yes I have the same frustrating issue of not updating the steps and Heart rate immediately. The update only takes place next day. Tried to shut down phone but still problems exist. If I had known so problematic I would not upgrade to ISO 13. Even can’t log in meal!
