My Flex 2 will receive everything BUT my message notifications. I have tried all of Fitbit’s jokes they call troubleshooting for weeks, to no avail. It’s gotten so irritating that I’ve stopped bothering to wear it because my message notifications was my second favorite feature.
Hi! I was in the exact same boat as you! Did you update the settings> notifications >messages >only when unlocked? You must, as i found out the hard way, turn off/on your phone. It was only after this that my charge 3 now works perfectly!

Best AnswerPrior to iOS 13, I had the message preview settings set to never. Being that I did not want my messages displayed on my phone, however I still got my messages on my Fitbit blaze. After the update I called in and was told I had to set the preview messages to always. Was wondering if there are plans to correct this.
Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community @BeardedBeast13
I apologize that your notifications have to be set on preview currently to get your messages. At this time notifications are currently an issue that Fitbit is aware of and it working on. I’m moving your post here so that you can stay updated with the notifications issues: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Stopped-seeing-notifications-after-updating-to-iOS-13/td-p/3...
Im sorry I couldn’t be more help.
I had my message settings to never also. Because I didn't want my messages displayed on my phone locked and unlocked.
I've changed that temporarily to always just to see if it w works.
Best AnswerMessages have to show on your lock screen. (iPhone) I had that switched off. I turned it off long ago due to security and privacy issues when I wasn't near my phone to prevent others from seeing my texts.
Best AnswerI have gone through this series of fixes at least 10 times now, seems like FitBit could fix this problem in a timely manner. Next step for me to attempt is getting a refund on this fitness tracker and going with a brand that supports it's consumers.
Turning your message notification settings to "show previews when unlocked" seems to be an instant fix.
However, I don't think that's clearly communicated in the troubleshooting steps, and as a result I bet that a lot of the people here who say they have tried everything are actually misunderstanding this step. (Myself included!)
Step 3 is referring to your actual iMessage notification settings, which can be found in your iPhone settings > notifications > messages > show message previews. If you change this setting, it should work. Fixed things instantly on my Alta HR. It is not referring to any setting within your Fitbit app.
Fitbit, can you update the troubleshooting steps for #3 to be a little more clear about how to navigate to these settings?
I am editing to add a photo of the menu you should see, and circling the setting.make sure that show previews says "when unlocked" or "always"
Best AnswerI wish I had seen this earlier. These steps I kind of figured it out on my own after many cuss words and headaches 😂
it’s weird how differently versa works vs charge 2. Charge 2 had no issues whatsoever with getting notifications from my phone settings.
thanks for the presentation. Hopefully Fitbit keeps this bumped to the top
