We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Have you contacted fitbit, by phone or live online support? They have been very successful in talking users through the steps to setup.

If you go somewhere else, stick with apple, since every non apple product has been experiencing the same notification problem with the latest iOS.

I’ve been in all the forums. Tried every “fix” multiple times. All my notification settings are up to date. So I finally found a fix on Black Friday!  New Apple Watch series 4 being delivered this Tuesday!  I’m so excited. Could never justify the expense since the Versa gave me a chance to see my texts w/o my phone. (Not allowed to have phone at work). So now it’s a necessity for me. Such a shame. Once upon a time Fitbit was great. Here’s to the future and seeing my texts!

The fix is unacceptable because you have no choice but to have text preview turned on on your phone. I do not want previews turned on and I will not turn them on. This was never the case before and should not be now.

I think I finally found a fix - after 4+ months of no notifications, following the steps over and over, factory resets, app uninstall and reinstalls, clicking and unclicking buttons and no help from “Customer Service”, I’m finally receiving notifications.

In your settings, make sure “Notification Center” is checked. Then turn off your Fitbit and turn it back on and sync it. IDK why but that’s what finally worked.

I posted a screenshot and circled it. I have everything set to “Shows Previews When Unlocked” so no one can be in my business and it’s worked every time I’ve made my husband text me.

Unless Fitbit just secretly pushed out an update to fix this issue....

I hope this helps someone bc Fitbit’s “Customer Service” was a joke.

Also, I will never, ever buy another Fitbit product again because of this. I’ve owned many Fitbit products and always recommended them but the lack of sympathy and customer service and the “well, you’re just out of luck” attitude, was infuriating.

Same here. Cannot have a phone out at work and that was the point of my Charge 3

I’m in shock, but this solution seemed to work for me too with my Charge 3. I rebooted the FitBit, then went into the Bluetooth settings and forgot the device, then went into the FitBit app and re-paired the device.

I now get text notifications to the FitBit (for the first time in a couple months)....although I’m totally expecting it to stop working by this time tomorrow.

Fingers crossed!

My Notification Center looks just like you have it pictured; it always has.  I've never changed it.  I don't get any notifications to my Fitbit.

I have just tried the Bluetooth reconnect again so will see if that works; although, I'm not holding my breath.  I've tried all of the suggestions from this thread and from Customer Service multiple times and nothing has worked.

A few other things that don't work on my Fitbit device any longer are:

Brightness:  In settings, it is set to Dim and I cannot change it; it's grayed out and I can't even select it.

Do Not Disturb:  Grayed out; can't select it.

Screen Wake:  It is set to Maual (Button) and is grayed out so I can't select it. This is another very annoying problem since I have to press the side button any time I want to see what time it is or my step count or heart rate, etc.

I now own a very expensive watch/pedometer.  I have contacted Customer Service as well - they've offered me 25% off another device.  I'm currently shopping for and researching APPLE WATCHES.  I will not own another Fitbit device (this is my 3rd one) and I will not recommend them to anyone.  In fact, I will tell my story loudly to anyone who asks my opinion about Fitbit.

Did you try rebooting the FitBit itself? That was the one thing mentioned here that I didn’t see elsewhere (and I actually had to dig around to figure out how to do it)....so it’s possible that was the key to getting this to work.

.....at least for my FitBit, for the next few hours until it stops working again lol

Yes, I rebooted the Fitbit first and then reconnected to Bluetooth just the way you described.

I can not get the fitbit to sync or anything.  I even tried logging in on a computer.  When will this be fixed?  I have tried all the troubleshooting still nothing.  This did not happen till the new update came out.

Hey!  Maybe unclick the Notification center, sync the Fitbit, re-click notification center and sync the Fitbit?

Trust me, when I tell you I tried everything, I tried everything. My husband would laugh at me when I would say, "text me now!"  I honestly think they secretly pushed an update.

I'm never getting another Fitbit product and I've loved mine since 2015 - it makes me sad.

I hope it works for you, or that something works for you soon!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and no go. I too have had a fit bit since 2015. I can understand a few issues as things change and get updated but this has gone on way to long. I’m starting to think that there is no fix. I have liked my Fitbit’s. 3 so far. 2 flexs and 1 Charge 3(that I needed to replace on warranty) but I will be looking at different products once I get tired of dealing with no fix issues or it fails.

Sorry @AmandaMae14 but Fitbit is not able to change the way your iOS works. You will need to contact Apple about not wanting to have preview on.

I own a Versa 2 and iPhone 6S running iOS 13.2.3. I have this issue. I followed all the steps and the key for me was the last step - restarting the iPhone. But I have to do it daily. Notifications stop working... restart phone... notifications flood in.  They work for about a day, then stop.  Repeat.  It's annoying but it works for me until Fitbit and Apple figure out how to play nice in the sandbox.

Apple cannot help you with this issue as it has nothing to do with them. People with Samsung phones are having the same issues so if you call Apple they’ll say to contact Fitbit. Again this has nothing to do with Apple. It’s Fitbit’s responsibility. So don’t blame Apple it’s Fitbit’s problem

Thanks I didn't realize that had happened.  I replied directly from my email.

You are correct, Fitbit doesn't care. It's not an Apple problem - it's a Fitbit problem. Their "Customer Service" is a joke.

It is Fitbit's responsibility to make sure their products work with the iOS, not the other way around.

I went as far as factory reset and still nothing worked....

Are there any updates as to whether this can be fixed? It's been months and I would prefer my notifications to be set to "Never" like before.
