Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

if you have an iPhone go to notifications and messages and make sure your previews are always on or only when unlocked... that’s the only way I get text messages on my Fitbit after updating to ios13 which it shouldn’t have to be like this and it’s annoying it’s been months and Fitbit hasn’t fixed it

I followed all of the notification advice and finally got texts and calls to come back to my Fitbit, however, no matter what I try, the Fitbit Versa will not vibrate so the only way I know that there is a text is by swiping. This defeats the whole purpose of the notification. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?

Not able to sync Fitbit charge 3 to iPhone. Notice that when switch off the Fitbit by pressing and holding for 8 seconds the smiley face appears but does not vibrate could this be due to a fault ?

My Versa has been unable to sync since 23 December. The app won't open properly on my iPhone - it keeps closing. After many tries the app will remain open, but can't find the Versa.

I have followed all of the advice in this thread several times. Getting very fed up now. The Versa is currently worse than useless, as it won't even tell the correct time.

I tried Fitbit support who replied by telling me there is a known problem, but they have no idea when it will be fixed.

Did you ever find an answer. Mind is doing the same thing and it seems Fitbit has never replied other than their canned answer. It’s so frustrating

This is SO FRUSTRATING!!!  I FINALLY get the update to 100% then the versa lite says "dowload firbit app"

I have restarted both the Iphone and versa lite, logged out of fitbit, deleted the fit bit in the app, unconnected the bluetooth, closed all window, EVERYTHING possible!!!  HELP!!!!!

I have a fitbit charge 2 and NO issues!!!

I called early last week, after getting my Fitbit Versa Lite for Christmas and the rep said to expect this issue to be resolved in the next week. That time has passed, are there any updates? What all is required to get a refund if this issue doesn’t get resolved? Part of the appeal of smart watches is the notification ability.

i'm chatting with a rep now!  we shall see.....

I have done all of these things at least 3 times total: Everything is as it should be. I have a Versa 2 paired with an iPhone XR. Both are updated to the most up-to-date operating systems. I receive all notifications except text messages - which is the most important one I need to receive during my work day. Since it is now 1-3-2020, has there been a fix?

If it were me and my Fitbit was that new, I would 100% return it. So annoying!

Not yet. I just posted the question last night. My wife has an iPhone XS and works fine, it’s just a problem with my XR.

My Fitbit worked like a dream when I first got it at Christmas, syncing throughout the day and popping up messages and call notifications instantly. However, then I updated my iphone to iOS 13 (unaware of all these issues) and it hasn't been the same since. It only syncs if I go into the app and do it manually (even though all day sync is turned on), so I'm not getting the usual step reminders or exercise tracking. I also don't receive any message/call/calendar notifications, even after I manually sync. My Charge 3 is essentially functioning at the level of an Alta, with step count + watch functionality.

I have tried these steps, my app and software are up-to-date, and I've unpaired and re-paired my fitbit to my phone, all without any success. This has obviously been a known issue for some time, and Fitbit needs to figure out a solution immediately.

I tried this and it did not work.  I tried a factory reset and that did not work.

I get phone call notifications on my Ionic but I do not get text message notifications.

In fact, the notifications link on the settings of the Ionic is no longer there?

Problem with my Ionic or problem with Ionic period?

Still no luck turning this useless piece of technology on.  Had nothing but trouble with This ionic since the day I got it. I won’t charge, it won’t turn, I can’t sync!! All I want is this expensive piece of junk to work!
