Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have tried this steps (yes in the correct order) once a week since mid December. I bought a charge 3 since my Alta had stopped notifications. The Charge 3 once received phone calls, but those stopped a week ago. No notifications coming through. Been trying these steps and still nothing. Is it a faulty charge 3???

Also I have an iPhone XR. It’s updated to 13.3. I was able to complete all of the steps. Yet still no notifications.

I read in an early post about someone having the same issue with no notifications being received. What he suggested was to delete your Versa 2 from your IPhone along with deleting the Fitbit app. Reboot your iPhone and then reinstall both. I did this to both my iPhone 7 as well as my wife’s. We can now get notifications as well as text messages and phone calls. It worked for me so all I can say is try it. Good luck and I hope it helps.

I am furious this issue is still not resolved.  Has anyone had any luck?  I have done every step exactly as it has been recommended, THREE times with no luck.  Still no text notifications.

Hi everyone,

Hopefully anyone can help me... I've just got a brand new Fitbit Charge 3 for my birthday and today I wanted to install it. It soon became clear that there are problems with synchronising the Fitbit when you're using iOS 13. I am using iOS 13, my iPhone is up-to-date, Bluetooth is on, etc. I assume the Fitbit app is up-to-date, too, since I've just downloaded it.

As for the Fitbit itself: I haven't got a clue, it's brand new and just out it's box. I can only see that it's fully charged and 'visit www.fitbit.com/setup'. This is as far as I can get and it's really frustrating. The tips about what to do don't seem to apply to me since my watch never worked, it being just bought. Can anyone of you help?

Much appreciated, thanks!

Hi! Mine was working after I set it up (Christmas), but it has now stopped vibrating and scrolling my messages. I do see them when I swipe down though. I’ve tried everything listed on every tread and nothing. Please help.

Tried all the trouble shooting more times then I can remember. Still can’t get notifications. I do not receive the message asking if I want the Fitbit device to show notifications. If this cannot be done, then I will want to return it as it is faulty. Please advise.

I had just purchased my Fitbit inspire HR and one for my wife. Hers had everything working and mine did not.
I checked firmware and software updates for all electronic devices.  I restarted the devices after checking the phone settings and all the information showed up on the Fitbit.

Worked great!! Glad I was not going to have to return this product

I bought an iPhone 11 Max pro this week and my versa will no longer stay connected to it. I’ve tried all of the steps listed on this post multiple times but with no luck. My versa will sync and download steps to the Fitbit app, but it won’t stay connected and give notifications. It will also connect to do a workout, and it seems to be auto recognizing sustained walking and logging it as exercise.

So the versa worked with your previous phone?
Was it the same iOS version?

I own a iPhone XS Max totally updated and it works great if it changes in the next 48 hours I will let you know.

Only got one phone iPhone 6s and it won’t let me put my versa on it because Bluetooth is blocking it with another app

My versa worked perfectly with my old iPhone (6s plus) with the same iOS. I feel a bit baffled by this. My husband also has an older iPhone running the same iOS as me, and his versa 2 works perfectly.
