Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have followed your directions and yesterday it worked. Today it won't. I go through each step and reboot my phone and it still will not recognize my Charge 3. I cannot do this on a daily basis, it's ridiculous.

I am very very disappointed that this issue cannot seem to be answered in a satisfactory manner.

What do I do now?

After 86 pages of users saying your fix doesn't work, how about some clarification from both you at Fitbit and Apple? Can't you two fix this? Multi billion dollar companies and you can't fix this problem?

Shame on you. I have been a loyal customer for years. I am on my 5th Fitbit now using the Charge 3 and this is so frustrating for all of us!!!

If you can't come up with a fix that works permanently, you will lose this customer permanently.

Signed,

Another very frustrated Charge 3, iPhone user.

This is really not acceptable. If they don't fix this then I'm out a lot of money for my Charge 3. I simply don't understand why they cannot fix this. It's unbelievable.

I found that if I go to settings > notifications > messages, I will only get an alert based on what my show previews setting is on.  If I set it to always, I get the notifications always, when unlocked, only if my phone is open, and never I don't ever get them.  I like to have this set to never for privacy, but that never prevented me from receiving the alerts prior to the new ios update.  That is very unfortunate if I now have to choose between the show preview setting I prefer or getting notifications.  I really hope they can figure out how to get it back to how it was when I could do both.

Fitbit needs to fix this issue ASAP. I stopped wearing mine because of it. The only way I get notification on my Fitbit is by allowing a message preview to show up on my iPhone. I don’t want the preview on my iPhone. What is taking so long to fix this?

Also when is a new Fitbit charge going to be released?

So I completely uninstalled my Charge 3 from my iPhone 11 and reinstalled it and it worked for about an hour and then .......... No Device Found..........to say i am upset is an understatement.

I have tried and tried until I am sick over this.

So I'm taking the Fitbit app off of my phone and will use it on my laptop only.

Thanks for NOTHING Fitbit and Apple!!!!!

Does anyone think because Apple Watch fitness is in direct competition with Fitbit health monitoring devices,  they may have weaseled some bug 🕷 🐛 🐜 into iOS 13 communications with Fitbit devices to cause all this hassle for us?! Hmmmmm......

I was having same notifications issues and it turned out I had somehow turned on sleep mode hence not receiving any notifications.  That simple.   For Versa, swipe down on watch for quick settings and click half moon to turn on or off sleep mode.  I hope this can help someone.  Beyond frustrating.

I have tried these directions, unpaired the watch, turned off notifications on both the watch, app, and phone, and restarted the phone a few times. Nothing has helped. I even went to the Apple store and they didn't have any suggestions. I am getting call alerts and calendar alerts now, but no text messages...

Other than notification about calls does it track your steps

Well...

I went to an Apple Store and had an Apple Genus reset my iPhone.  Now I get all the notifications again, even text messages.  Yeah! 😀  I backed up my IPhone prior to going to the store.  The tech basically went: Settings> General> Reset> Reset All Settings.  Took only a few minutes. I did have to go into each app and allow notifications. I also had to reset up my wallet, my touch ID and some other minor things, but it was totally worth it.   I was told that for future iOS updates to make sure that I do them manually and that I am connected to a stable WiFi connection.  I had my updates set up to do it automatically overnight when I was plugged in my bedroom which has poor a poor, unreliable WiFi signal.  He suspected that I got an incomplete update and that was the root of my notification problem with the fitbit.   (BTW, I have an iPhone SE and a fitbit Charge 3)

Hope this information helps others.

I tried this twice for my Fitbit Alta and iPhone 11.  It still does not work for messages, so frustrating.  It does work for phone calls and calendar.  Makes no sense.  This issue should have been resolved by now.
