Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Go to settings in your fitbit and hit factory reset

I’ve done all of this and the problem is fixed for a few hours, and then says it lost Bluetooth connection. I have to pair the Fitbit to my phone multiple (7+) times a day. Very frustrating

I'm having FitBit problems too.  Common theme seems to be IOS 13.3 update.  I don't think FitBit is keeping up with the Apple updates and that is causing issues.  At least they admit "some customers mau experience compatability issue" but not that it is a consistent and widespread issue.  Goes to the customer support FitBit provides.

See the message on the top of the FitBit community board it states "We’re aware that some customers may experience a compatibility issue with notifications after updating their iPhone to iOS 13.".  What it does not say is that these issues are prevelant and impacting a majority of FitBit users.  In my opinion it goes to the lack of customer support from FitBit

Look at Murphy Allen post about 8 hrs ago. I went through the process 3 times. About 4hrs later I received a text notification. I am keeping fingers crossed it will continue working. Live chat  today I was advised that a solution is expected sometime soon. Reality is they had same thought 3 months ago. Hopefully they get it figured out.

Look thru posts from Murphy Allen around noon today 1/13/20 for better detailed steps. Series of steps deleting app, going to Bluetooth and remove device. Reboot and phone. I had to reset my phone

reboot versa 2, holding side button til logo appears.
Reload app,

Good luck

This is still an issue in 2020. Is there anything else that can be done? Calendar notifications and calls are coming through on the Versa 2, but no text messages. This was never an issue with the original Versa...

Mine still does not work (no pairing so no syncing). Same issues appeared about a month ago all were tried to no avail. Coincidentally, I've upgraded my phone and voila, my charge 3 all fixed paired and synced although the all day syncing worked haphazardly overall was good enough to keep my daily activity logged.  About 10 days ago I've started having syncing issues (partial syncing still occurred) and all came to a screeching halt a week a go, no more syncing. I deleted and re-installed he fitbit app from my phone. Now no more pairing. I have to call my apple watch to the rescue a third time in less than 12  months...

The weekend warrior challenge was great.  The Weeday Challenge no so much.  My dashboard says I did over 14,000 steps.  My challenge page says I only did 3, 000.... Then this morning it shows 13, 000 and I have done another 5, 000 steps this morning.  Why is it not syncing like it did for the weekend challenge, which was up to date every "second".

@KateFitbit Please fix this issue, I want iMessage notifications to go back to vibrating on the wrist and popping up a preview. This was one of the main reasons I bought the Fitbit. I have a disabled husband and am not allowed to carry my phone at work, having his text messages vibrate on my wrist and showing the preview was very important to me. Please get this fixed, I have tried everything to bring the vibration back and the preview to no avail. I am at the current iOS software and the Fitbit is updated to the newest software. The only thing I see preventing it is it is iMessage is not showing up in the Fitbit apps notification list. I will not buy another Fitbit product, very unhappy with changes being made when advertising says it is capable of that.

My fitbit (Charge 2) stopped getting text notifications from my iphone 2 weeks ago, but still receives phone call and calendar notifications. I have tried everything listed above - turning off and on notification settings, unpairing and re-pairing bluetooth, turning devices off and on, resetting Fitbit and iPhone - but nothing has resolved this. Please help! Text notifications are a huge reason why I use a Fitbit. I don't want to have to change to an Apple watch. 😞

I have done all of the above. Can the watch be returned and/or exchanged?

I just spent half an hour with the live chat to resolve this and she was beyond useless. Kept saying to be patient and they are working on resolving but gave zero solutions. Wouldn’t even offer a refund. I will never be purchasing a fit bit again. To say I am bad and frustrated is an understatement.
