Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

Wow! I thought I was on borrowed time but now I see my move to another platform is guaranteed. I have been avoiding the train wreck Charge5 firmware update by turning off all app updates in the hope that I won’t lose further functionality until they fix the Charge5 firmware fail. Now I see I won’t be able to use the Fitbit app as I currently still am once I update even if they do fix the charge 5 firmware (which is not looking very likely). So I guess it will now be the point where I am forced to update my iOS that I bale out. I will then be forced to update the Fitbit app and then that will be me moving to any platform other than Fitbit or G*****. Current front runners are Garmin and Amazefit. In the meantime I’m logging all my gps walks in Strava so at least I can keep my historic walks somewhere other than Fitbit, since you can’t bulk export that data from Fitbit to a new platform (only one at a time). The one regret I have is I use the Charge 5 ECG for monitoring my arrhythmia, but Apple Watch pathetic battery life is the deal breaker for the only desirable alternative in Australia. But looks like I have to lose something that Fitbit used to be superior for.

Thanks for agreeing with me. Yes, they are extremely arrogant and will just do as the will whilst the masses lap it up. Ta.

I really like the new 4.0 version of Fibit. But can you PLEASE consider putting back the battery percentage on the phone app?  This was very, very convenient and easy to see when to charge your fitbit.  Thanks

IMG_1366.png Was there any quality control, testing and user acceptance testing done on this update ? I expected more from  Google. This is such a step backwards that in my spare time I am now researching other trackers.

When I first heard that Google was buying Fitbit I worried that the product was going to go down hill. Now with this update to the app, it’s time to expose other devices.

This update looks like a kids app! It took me over an hour to get things set up AGAIN, for the THIRD time! The WEIGHT is before the GLUCOSE, WHY!? 😡 It seems GLUCOSE is more IMPORTANT than the weight!
😡

If I can’t roll back to the previous version, 3.82, you will be losing my family as customers and i will be purchasing devices from your competitors.

How do i role back to the 3.82 version?

PS: I am NOT a JOGGER

This is the worse app that I have downloaded on any of my three devices. It is so boring to look at that I am not a motivated as I was before. The app is boring, not as user friendly as before, no brightness to it, just a lackluster app. My grocery list app is more exciting.

my charge five updated to the new software, and now I am not as able to arrange the tiles as I would like. In particular, the steps tile cannot be in the middle. I am absolutely not a fan of this. It is not as user-friendly and I cannot arrange it the way I prefer. If anyone has a workaround are some way to make this easier I would appreciate it if you would let me know.

I’ve enjoyed using Fitbit for years. The new app design is flat, unintuitive and unengaging. Everything is huge so you’d expect think it to make things clearer and more intuitive, but it doesn’t.

There is a lot of unnecessary white space and too much padding within each section/card. Content used to be scannable and the design was compact. Details are now pushed so far down the screen and there is generally less information available at a glance – e.g. on the main stats screen I used to be able to see my current heart rate as well as today’s average resting heart rate. The latter is no longer available until you tap for further details, an additional interaction I never had to undertake.

Having coloured icons for each section previously made them more recognisable, accessible and visually pleasing.

I am surprised, disappointed and pretty sure no user testing was conducted prior to this new version release. If this doesn’t revert or undergo a redesign really soon I will have to consider using other products (and I have used Fitbit since 2016).

P.S. I’m a UI/UX designer.

This will be my last post in these forums. I just purchased an Apple Watch 9 which will replace my Charge 5. It does so much more, and the app is easily configured to view the stats that I want to see, and it doesn't look like it's been designed by a Tween.

Sorry, Fitbit, you had your chance but ignoring end user complaints is not the way to keep customers happy.

Good luck, Fitbit users. Looks like you're going to need it!

Because I am not able to tell Fitbit that this new app for Fitbit is absolutely terrible! No total distance, no total anything like you had before. Now, Fitbit has just degraded the app and it’s far worse than how it was! I don’t like it at all. Go back to how you had it! If not, I’ll check for a new health app, as I know there are many. I liked Fitbits app the way it was, and in my opinion you just made it horribly worse! Don’t fix what wasn’t broken!

You might change your mind when you see the new app.

Totally agree with you... not liking this new design at all. why do they change so much instead of making small improvements. they've changed the whole look for the worse... looked so much better before!

Best Answer

Omg the new fit bit app is awefull it doesn’t work! It doesn’t record my movement or correct steps.

I HATE the new app display! I can’t see the battery level, it is very bland-like something you’d buy your child. Extremely disappointed!
