Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

It’s the worst update I’ve ever seen on any app. Return to last versionLF

Oct. 18, 2023  The app update is awful. Confetti for reaching goals has vanished, and it now is time-consuming and tedious to scroll through days to see steps. You have to wait for the little meter to whirl around to your daily total, which is annoyingly slow compared to scrolling through the previous static step totals. Thanks for ruining what was good about the app.  Clearly another case of techies trying to justify their employment by upchucking numerous unwanted and unneeded “improvements”.  Grade: F

Admittedly, Orwell is cited very often these days.

But I have to say, this is the app Winston Smith would have been forced to use. He grimly would have.

google fit watch - Google Search.jpeg

Earlier this year I was looking to potentially update my Fitbit, I had purchased the Versa4 the year before. When reading about that Google had purchased Fitbit and were actively removing features from Fitbit and integrating it with their Google smart watch I got spooked and chose to go with a different device. There seems to be more and more evidence for this and I’m so glad I made the move away from Fitbit, because it’s ridiculous that people are asked to spend all that money and be taken for a ride like that. This new app design is another insult to customers, and my partner will now be leaving the Fitbit family as well.  If you had any doubt of conflict of interests you can see my attachment.

I don't like the new app design and I don't like that I have to use google. SO Sad. I loved the Fitbit. The google environment is awful. Charge 5 going in the trash. You just killed a good product but maybe that was what you wanted to do.

Thank you RiekoC!  I am glad they are making changes.  I am hoping their changes look like the old app.  Being that they said they would make the main menu less space, means they are grouping them again.  Just hope back to the old groups that made sense.

You can change your watch face and see the battery life, there are lot of choices that display this.  I like the "all stats" face which shows everything you want to know.  FYI I hate the new screen too.

Please please please sort this out. It's truly horrid. I can barely be bothered with it anymore!

This is getting worse !!!!

this isn’t just someone designing this app who clearly doesn’t exercise or care about tracking sleep, etc but just plain BAD programming. Why wouldn’t you sync when you open the app ?  Why does it stay stagnant to the last scrolled item you had to go find anything on your app. This should open up, refresh and sync automatically and open to the top of the page  like any other tolerated system known to man.
The metric fronts rarely match the detail behind it. I could go on for ages on all the other items that are not sufficient for a product of this size. Programming 101 in my opinion and to quote a user from earlier - Grade F !!!!!
Who designed this ? And even worse…… who tested this load of cr@p and thought it would be a good idea to roll out to the entire international environment ?
shame on Google

I am disappointed with the new design. I can't even use it. I honestly haven't looked at the app after the first couple of days because it's so meaningless to me.

I wish it would go back to the old format.

Please put the old back. There is plenty of negative feedback. This look is awful. Please let us know when you will revert back to what was working before.

The new app is something I think a lot of us can’t get used to. I saw an article this morning on 9to5Google that there’s will be updates, however, on the off chance someone from Fitbit reads this I want to state my complaints. First off there was nothing wrong with the old app. Sure it might’ve needed a face lift but now it’s hard to find anything. I’ve been using it for over a week and the lack of differentiating color is really hard. In my opinion, I think a good solution to this would be a “classic mode” where you could toggle how your screen looks. Additionally, I’m still having issues syncing my Versa 3. Will there be a resolution for this?

Just gonna leave that here. It was engaging and motivating before. It’s difficult to read and homogenized now.  I would consider this a fail on the product development front. Community seems to agree. When can we see an improvement?

I’m not confident they will make it look like it used to. The new one is absolutely horrible. The old one was beautiful and functional and now it looks like a kid designed it. It’s ugly and the animations are very annoying. The old app is what made me ditch my Apple Watch as a fitness tracker and go back to FitBit. I still wear my Apple Watch because I like some of its features and when people ask why I have 2 devices, I would always tell them how superior the Fitbit app is compared to Apples health app. The way it gave me data was so much better than Apple and now they’ve taken away the thing that kept me a customer. I hope they don’t change the sleep page. Does anyone know how to roll back the updates to the previous version on an iPhone?

You can turn the Location off by going to Settings > App Settings > Location

Yes. I hate looking at it.

Grade F indeed.

The only conclusion I can reasonably draw is that Google is actively trying to kill the Fitbit. If that is in fact their goal, you've got to admit -  they're doing a fine job.

Hi @RanchoNachito - probably best to post in "The redesigned Fitbit app is rolling out!" topic in this forum along with the other unhappy users where you will see more fully the issues.

Unfortunately it would seem likely you are stuck with this version officially. Though there may be some tweaks over time already mentioned there.
