Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

@TOMMYDONOVANthere is no way to change it back to the previous app. They just released it, so don't expect it to change quickly, if at all. Fitbit doesn't have to get our permission to change things. See Section 18 of the Terms of Service.

Hi @Guardy using Android, my steps do show at the top. You might need to edit your app with the little pencil upper right of the dashboard.

If they don’t offer a way to revert back, I may finally need to look into a garmen or an apple watch. ugh.

thx. I did edit and the only way I see to get activity at the top is to hide/not show the heart health - which seems to always show at top. im on an ios

App updated without asking, what a load of old rubbish. Dumbed down, looks like a child designed it but, and the most important thing - no battery level indicator anymore.

So I guess I'll be running out of battery every few days now, time to switch to an Apple watch methinks...

FYI: Fitbit is now a Google app. Of course any changes Google makes must be better - NOT. if things keep getting worse/more complicated i will also be changing products/apps.

I don't like the new app at all.  How do I revert to the previous version?  Thank you.

I hate the new display - is it possible to switch back to the old one?!?!

Best Answer

Yes, totally agree.  And they removed the Home icon that used to be in the bottom left hand corner of every screen.  Now you have patiently page back to the Home screen when you’re deep into one of the menus.  Frustrating when they change something that wasn’t broken.  Who makes these decisions???  And, you can’t rearrange the 4 Focus counters on the Home Screen to put the one that you’re most interested in at the top anymore.  2 steps backwards…

Ugh, yes, I know. Sometimes, smart developers give people the choice of whether they want to go with the new interface or stick with the old one. Fitbit is owned by Google now, and Google provided that option with Gmail -- it would have made sense to have done that here. Or they at least could have tested the new interface with actual users. I can't imagine they did, because there is nothing at all that is better or improved with this update. It is 100% a step backwards. I'm hoping that the seemingly unanimous response to this terrible update will spur them to give users an option to switch back to the old interface, but I'm not holding my breath. There's probably a 1% chance that they will do this, and I most likely will switch to Apple watch by the time they'd get around to it.

After a full day of fighting it, I could move the top priority square by swiping left.

does the app change if we move to Fitbit on Google?

I have found how to ‘fix’ my display, but find the app to still be an unimpressive “improvement” on the old app. I see this as a Google step backwards.

I see today the roll out of the newest Fitbit product.    Before the app update I would be excited for this.   Now I am committed to never purchasing a google product.   The new app interface is not user friendly and has lost almost all functionality.    Please Fitbit … bring back the old interface!   Also please comment on the app stores as well. People will read reviews now of the old app without knowing that the new app is almost non functional.   Let’s help other consumers avoid making the mistake of purchasing Fitbit

@LizzyFitbit  What is the response of Fitbit developers to our serious concerns regarding the new app?  Most of us will be leaving Fitbit to purchase new non google trackers if the old app isn’t available asap.

Great. Tell me how to I get the streak back,  beating heart icon and live HR and the good colours again all visible without 10 second scrolling. Thanks!

Hi @Megan.E.H , if you tap “Food” on the main screen, the estimated calories left for the day is detailed under “Today”. It’s identical to the old app. 😊
