Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

I'm not happy with the update, either. It's not syncing properly with the desktop version. I want to know the number of calories I have left for the day. The number is different in the new app from the dashboard version. I have a Chrome bookmark on my iPhone so I can just use the desktop version on my phone. It's somewhat inconvenient. I do miss the old version and after reading the comments, I'm wondering if Google is killing Fitbit on purpose to force us onto something else.

Yes, bring back the old version PLEASE!

Hi,

I have been a Fitbit user for years now and I want to comment on the new Fitbit app. I do not know who sold you this design, but it is absolutely horrible. The most important data is not visibly displayed. The previous app design worked perfectly! It had attention grabbing colors, it was vibrant and vivid yet clean and easy to read. This new design is bland, lacks color and literally demotivates me from reading my data. The data new placement of data is also an issue; for example: The breakdown of zone-min--in the previous app it was all neatly lined up and you could easily see how many active zone minutes you've gotten during the day post work-out and then count the calories with it easily. Now, in the new design, I literally have to search for the caloric number to my zone minutes and the way it is placed doesn't make it easy to sum your amount total. Why would you do this I wonder? In the gym, we also promote Fitbit to users and this new design is very confusing as it is not easy to distinguish between data sections. At the moment, we are unable to get clients to switch from Apple Health to Fitbit for tracking because of your horrible design. I want to know if it is possible to keep the older app design or if we can request a re-design.

When do I use Fitbit? Daily

I hope to hear back soon.

Aegina,

You have hit on every point and more, that I have thought of, and done it far more eloquently!  I cannot imagine what Fitbit was trying to accomplish with this change.  I am angry!  This may be old but it’s appropriate: “When it isn’t broke don’t fix it!”

Hi Aegina,

Hi @Aegina

I highly suggest you use the feedback feature located in the settings of the app. Using that feature will ensure that it's read by the Google team, we are only volunteers here in the forum. The more people that make this request, the better of a chance it will get added as a feature down the line.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Bill

Man. I work in product development and I truly feel for everyone on your development team. If you hired an agency or a research firm, you should fire them, because they clearly did not help you with accurate user testing.

ANYWAY. User experience issues aside, my watch won't sync regularly on the new app. Even when I force it to sync, it only works about half the time. And switching back and forth between my account and my child's account is confusing and difficult. I'll let him keep the kids FitBit, but I'll be moving on to Apple next time. I'm frustrated because I recently upgraded my FitBit, only to have it rendered less effective due to app issues. Obviously FitBit isn't going to fix this any time soon--does anyone have recommendations on how I can fix my syncing issues?

Agree. The new app requires more keystrokes to add food and water than it did before; I can't figure out how to log exercise manually. And it is even more erratic in logging my sleep than it was before. Plus, the Dashboard seems to have disappeared from the website. This was a place i could always to to to do things the app wouldn't do.

Horrible redesign! If I had open the app prior to just 30 minutes ago purchasing a new versa 4 I wouldn’t have.

It looks like it was designed for a kindergartener. What happened? Is there away I can have the older version that is not so generic adolescent looking?

100% agree with you. I’m just walked out of the store with my 4 smart FitBit and I’m thinking about taking it back.

I don't even know what to say about this new app

It’s pretty bad. Like it was designed by people not in the health tracker business. Spare me silly video effects like spinning numbers.

Design is horrible, and UI changes weren’t even needed in the first place.

Yes, please!  Why does some code writer from Bangledesh get to decide the order that the categories on my app appear?  I don't want "Readiness" #1, but I can't move it unless I move ALL Activity down.  Where is the battery level?  The look of the App is even worse than it's functionality.  Bring back the old app.  Fire whomever made the decision to roll this version out.  It usually takes four or five attempts to get it to sync with my iPhone 14.  And explain this to me?  If I have 49 active minutes at 11:59 and I'm running/walking with a heart rate of 132, shouldn't I get at least one more "active minute" for minute 11:59?  If so, I hit my daily goal.  But no.  The clock turns midnight and the app does not update for the last minute.  Y'all really need to fix the App.  Sales of activity trackers are down, and you are alienating customers that have been with you for years.  Is the response to the posts in the Community by Fitbit just a moderator to say "Thank you for your feed back, please go to the following link and talk health and fitness with others."  I guess Fitbit revenue is such a drop in the bucket to Alphabet that they just don't care!  Maybe they will realize that in the Fitbit world, this is a New Coke opportunity!  You can fix what you did by bringing back what you took away.  Call it the "FItbit Classic App".  Give people the choice to keep the new app, and when after a short while you realize nobody wants it, you get rid of it, and all is forgiven.  Except for the people that rejected it early and bought an Apple Watch.

That is a pathetic answer.  There is a way to revert to the old app version.  Just send it out in a software update.  Same way everyone got stuck with the new app, they can get the old one back.

It's almost as if they decided to use the prototype app they were testing by mistake because that is what it reminds me of.
