Hello everyone!
I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.
Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.
Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.
Happy stepping!

I'm still angry that I bought a brand new Luxe less than 2 months before they made all these changes to the app. If I'd known... Id have taken a lot closer look at other brands.

Yes! Hate this new app design! Why couldn’t they just update the features without changing the layout?! I find the new app much more difficult to find the sections, I scroll up and down passed the food log section because everything blends together. Also I know you can still find the battery life if you tap on the charge 5 icon- but what’s the point of that? If I remembered to tap the icon then I would remember to charge it. My fitbit use to always be charged because I could see the battery life was low, now it’s constantly dying without warning because I have no reminder of the battery life. If the app had worked like this for my charge 2, I probably would’ve returned it and switched to a different company. I really wish they would’ve beta tested it and/or asked for feedback after the roll out. Primarily, please ADD BATTERY LIFE BACK on home screen!! Also, just go back to the old app style!

This is horrible. I kept a Fitbit because of the old app. I guess it's time to give in and use my other watch. This is horrible news. The new app gives me none of the info I want.

Finally some good news! Two MONTHS after launching the new app, we finally have the battery indicator back on the dashboard! And the step streak has returned as well! Though you do have to click “steps” and go to a second screen to find it. I’m relieved that this means (hopefully) that our past data is not going to be deleted in this acquisition process. Maybe it won’t be long before your designers will allow us to move the step streak back to the main page if we choose. One can dream. Thank you.

I do not like the new app. At 79 I preferred the other one.

I have been so frustrated with the new app. I tend to be someone who will pick up changes and new tech without issue but these changes are truly just a regression. My biggest frustration is that I can no longer monitor my heart rate while working out to see when I am in fat burn zone. In the past it would identify if you were in fat burn zone, cardio zone or below both on the main screen. Now to be sure I’m where I need to be for a workout I have to dig into the zone minutes screen to see what my heart rate needs to be to be in fat burn zone then remember it while working out. All because they took away this feature. For those who don’t monitor your heart rate zones, this changes daily based on multiple health factors. I quite literally hate the changes, not a single improvement. All the positive reinforcement has been removed. Almost like they want to push us to something else. Hmmmm

It is pretty obvious to everyone that this new look is designed to make us look to new products. In my case it will absolutely not be any kind of Google product.

I am wondering how Fitbit developers will refer to exercise zones when and if the information is returned to the heart rate tile. Currently in zone minutes exercise zones are referred to as light, moderate, vigorous and peak. Heart rate, and in exercise the heart rate sounds, are referred to as fat burn, cardio, and peak. it is amazing that there is an inconsistency in terminology usage within the application. I hate to make the assumption that fat burn equals moderate, cardio equals vigorous and peak equals peak. I have brought this inconsistency up with Fitbit customer care, Google disability support, and in postings within the forum.
I have dictated this on my iPhone, and hope that you will be able to understand my ramblings. I am using the most recent version of the Fitbit app 4.04 and the most recent version of apples iOS 17.1.1.

I like your idea of timing a walk as a bike ride. I prefer to not constantly swing my arm and once in a while put the watch-wearing hand into my pocket, esp.if it’s cold.

Exactly. Night recording has really become erratic. Unreliable. Googly, if you will. 😂

Because Fitbit rolls out updates over a two week. Period. You may not have gotten access to the most current update. You can check the most current version of the update by clicking in the upper right hand corner on the my account tab and scrolling down to help. Click on help and then you should be able to see the current app version you are using and there will also be a place that you can click on. That will tell you if there is an update available for your device. You probably have already done this, but for those who haven’t it might be Worth checking. Also, within the help screen area, you can click on the appropriate forums for your device and your application. Fitbit still has a bug in this section that does not allow me to click on the charge five forum and get direct access. The message I received is that I have been denied access which is probably due to an interface error between the old Fitbit account and the Google account. I migrated to a couple of months ago.

I find the redesigned app very disappointing. The redesigned fonts make it much harder to read, and the extra spacing between the various measurements require more scrolling to see the entire metrics. I would highly recommend that Fitbit have an option to go back to the old app appearance before you lose customers (like me, who currently has my original Fit Charge 2, but was thinking of upgrading this year. Right now, my vote would be a strong "no.")

I couldn't agree more. With the old app, I could easily see my active minutes for each day, the week, or the month at one glance in a handy list format. Now that information is buried in useless bar graphs that must be touched to see the actual number, and I can't easily access information for past weeks. Who designed this horrible new app? I am also thinking of changing brands. This new app doesn't meet my needs at all.

I love both your posts ATL_Dave! I am in IT and you said it exactly. Looks like they let a beginner programmer design this app and as you stated, probably was a foreign and cheap contractor. Horrible design and doesn't make sense. More navigation to try to find something, instead of simplifying the app. No testing at least with people that know what the customers would like. Why change an app that drastically when Fitbit has been the top tracker to buy. I agree with you that they should be able to install the old version and send it out to the users right away. Makes me think that Alphabet (aka Google) doesn't care about Fitbit customers. They are destroying the Fitbit brand which was the top of all trackers. I too will be looking at what other brand I will switch to,
