Today if I click on the search bar to find a food it only allows me to create a custom food - no search results appear no matter what I type. This is the case before and after updating. I also deleted and reinstalled the app.

MyFitnessPal may be an option, but you will have to pay for the ability to use barcode scanning. I much prefer Fitbit's food tracker as it is more intuitive.

This started for me on 11/6 and I followed all the steps to try and correct it too. I wish there was an ETA on when it’ll be resolved.

Same for me in The UK. I fear this will go the same way as International Date Format. We’ll get a polite message saying thanks for the great idea and they’ll see how much feedback they get for it. Then there’ll be 40 million threads of exactly the same thing that they won’t recognise or reconcile and it’ll never return because nothing exists outside of North America. Nail in the coffin for me if they don’t reinstate this quickly.

Same issue. I updated the app and my barcode icon is now not only not working but is gone. I have restarted, updated, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Customer support said to update to 4.56 to fix the issue. This did not work. Frustrating.
