Unable to log weight/food with decimals/commas after updating to iOS 12

Fitbit Update 9/28/2018: We are aware that some users on iOS 12 are unable to log weight using decimal points or foods using a comma. Our team is currently investigating. As a workaround, you can add your weight and food through Fitbit.com and it should populate correctly. Thanks for your reports!

@BlindaR  This is a known issue since the release of iOS 12.  When you look at the top of the iOS App forum page, you will see a thread highlighted in blue.  Fitbit is aware of the problem.

I hope this helps.

The latest update solved the “,” thing ... now my apps language is dutch ( i do NOT want that )

Best Answer

Yep! Same here... Don’t want Dutch either. Changing my country into UK doesn’t solve this problem, only my dashboard on the computer is in English  but the fitbit-app stays Dutch... Even after logging out and in again.

I’m very happy with the “,” though! But now I’d like to be able to choose my language regardless of where I live!

I reported the issue 07-25-2018 and the reply I got was just nonsense. (Post: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Unable-to-add-decimals-in-Custom-Foods/m-p/2941446#M92804)

The solution seem quite obvious and here is the quote from the post:

‘Just some additional information regarding this bug. I just did a quick test on my iPhone. I changed the region to US - and what do you know - the decimal is working. The implication of this is that there is a localization/globalization problem in the Fitbit app causing a serious and unnecessary problem for all international users living in regions where ',' (comma) is used as a decimal separator as opposed to '.' (as in English speaking countries). Programming for international markets this really should be basic 101 knowledge for the developers.’

Thanks for the solution. Seems stupid to change region - enter weight with
decimals and then change region back, but if that's what it take... 🙂

The problem with the decimal point when inputing weight goes back to beginning of September, with iOS 12 release...   I have just installed the new Fitbit update, 2.82 (800), and decimal point issue still continues!!!     I am surprised that Fitbit has this fix with so low-priority...  Or they probably don't care for the international users...

New 2.83 still has the problems logging food.  Can’t see that anything is fixed.

Yes...  The issue is still there...   It seems Fitbit is not interested in getting it fixed...  I think it is time to start looking for a alternative app...

Wow the better half of a year and it’s getting worse than it was. Now the decimal has been removed from logging custom foods? This is really not a hard thing to fix, it has worked in previous versions... being forced to the webpage to be able to log new custom foods properly is really NOT the way to go. The reason being the webpages are alredy pretty useless on tablets due to poorly implemented modality nd focus.  It seem your developers understands how to do it on Android but please, take the time to fix this BUG for international customers. Changin iOS to US regional settings reveals the decimal in all its glory - and again - how hard is it REALLY to fix it for the rest of the world?

And please, no more excuses- just fix it. Almost 6 months is already enough.
