Versa 2 GPS map not recording properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am using a Versa 2 with an IPhone 7S vs. 13.5.1.

I do allow my Fitbit access to my GPS always.  The GPS is always turned on my phone as well.  Something isn't working properly when tracking my routes.  The GPS tracking used to work properly and track my exact route. Lately it began to only track the distance in some sort of direct line.  It no longer shows the street overlay either.  I also have a problem where the Fitbit won't connect to my phone without 3 or 4 attempts or the GPS drops in random places where I know I have cell service.  Does anyone have any advice for fixing this issue permanently.  I'm getting pretty tired of uninstalling and reinstalling the device.  I've only had it for about 3 months and it worked perfectly for the first 6 weeks but I've had nothing but problems ever since. 😞

Meanwhile, recommend checking out this article with information about the different factors that can affect connected GPS. I also suggest doing the following:

  1. Log out of the app.
  2. Force quit the app.
  3. Restart your phone and your device
  4. Log into the Fitbit app.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Same issue here. I only get the proper mapping while the app is open. When the app is not directly open, my Fitbit displays “Connecting”

I had to hold the phone and keep it open to log the hike this morning. I know it didn’t used to be this way. And yes, my GPS is set to always on, as is my bluetooth connection.

Having the same issue described, not showing GPS information in my bike ride.  It will show distance, speed and heart rate.  Also shows splits and speeds in those tabs but nothing on the Map tab,  under the map tab no default, Heart Zones and Speed data... blank?

This is a new issue, didn't have this problem consistently until recently.

Just to add my similar experience to this.

I have been using Versa 2 for a few months now with no issues, until the last week when I have had the same problem, where recording a run using the Versa 2 fails to record the route. I haven't changed any settings on my phone or watch, and there's no real reason I can see as to why this has happened.

Adding my two cents. I have an iPhone 11 with the same problem, it is up-to-date the app is up-to-date and running all the current software and still having issues with it keeping connected to my phone to track my route.

I noticed that none of you mentioned what release of the FitBit iOS app you are running. Trust me, it's important to have an understanding of the full environment when trying to figure out what is amiss.

I too was experiencing the issue where assisted-GPs would fail if the app was not in the foreground and the phone was not locked.

That went away, at least for me, at release 3.24. All is not roses, however.

I must take the app out of memory and restart it most of the time to ensure the exercise app connects, though I suspect that is because my Versa 2 has n-e-v-e-r been cleanly paired to my phone. Then I can lock the phone and start the Walk app on my Versa 2 and take off. The GPS connection to my Versa 2 stays clean.

I haven't tested under 3.25, which I just updated to just before dinner.I will post again after my after-dinner walk.

Good luck, and a hearty welcome to the boards for all of you.

All -

Just completed my 1 mile walk through the neighborhood.

  • Restarted the iOS app, and minimized it.
  • Started a playlist in Music/iTunes.
  • Started the "Walk" exercise app on my Versa 2
  • Proceeded to "pound pavement" at a leisurely rate.

Good clean map at the end of the .98 miles.

<<edit>> After reviewing the map and returning to the "Today" screen the app is stalled trying to sync. This has been normal for me since adding the Versa 2 to my account on January 31st of this year and never getting a clean bluetooth pairing. Yes, I have reported it. And yes, I do sometimes wonder my I didn't get a Series 5.

I am having the same issues which previously never existed.  Also, I concur that none of the supposed answers are helping and much rhetoric is used to placate.  Must admit that I rarely get any reasonable answer or solution from Fitbit employees on these sites.  While, I do gain assistance it is from other users on online. Disappointing.
