i’m a blind user using the VoiceOver application on my iPhone to read the screen. when I open the app to look at time and percents and sleep sounds I have noted that the percentage is never total 100%. Today’s the percentage in each Sleepsong was 16 and 66 totaling 82%. On a prior day the sleep score was 21 and 20 and I believe 50 and I recall on another day the percentage and sleep zone was 79. I don’t believe I have ever seen one where it totals 100% or that percentages were identified for all of the four suite zones. Does anyone know why this occurs? I find it frustrating and often do calculations in my head to roughly approximate percentagees

Hello @Podunk
This thread here may help explain why the percentages seem off here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/Why-sleep-monitoring-percentage-is-not-100-in-sum/td-p/2557885
Try looking under Benchmark to see if the numbers round to 100%. You can find more here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2163.htm
😉 I hope this helps clarify things and provides you with an answer. Please let me know

Thank you for the link, I found it helpful however, it did not answer my question. I have looked at the times the percentages and the more I look the more confused I get.
I slept seven hours and 49 minutes last night equaling 469 minutes.
percentage in sleeping zones was 13% 14% and 67% totaling 94%.
Time in sleep zones was 31 minutes one hour and 13 minutes one hour and 15 minutes six hours and three minutes totaling approximately nine hours or 540 minutes.
The more I try to reconcile the numbers the more confused I get and the more frustrated and unsure of the actual value of the data provided. I hope someone can explain this to me so I will be able to sleep at night knowing that the results I get every morning are valid and valuable.
thank you as always megabyte you’re the one person I can count on to respond to my questions and concerns.

Hello again @Podunk
When I look at the sleep stages they list Awake, REM, Light, and Deep. That’s four areas they are identifying. Fitbit says they track time spent in light, REM and deep sleep, plus time awake. You listed them in percentages in your previous post. As 13%, 14% and 67% which totaled 94%. That’s only tracking 3 things. What’s missing from your equation is the time spent awake. You need to add that percentage as well.
Read this article here about how Fitbit tracks sleep: https://www.lifewire.com/fitbit-sleep-stages-4140333 Fitbit worked with sleep researchers and the National Sleep Foundation to highlight four types of sleep, which you see in a readout in the morning when you wake up on the Fitbit app.
😃I think once you calculate the awake percentage you will be able to account for the missing numbers to come up with 100%.

I believe I have figured out what is going on. First do not use the sleep time in the calculations of percentages it does not include time awake. Second the percentages did not include deep sleep. Third you can either add time awake to sleep time to get the correct number to use to calculate percentages or you can total up the time in each stage of sleep including time awake. This seems to work and doing the calculations. However it does not explain why sometimes only one percentage is provided or two percentages are provided or when time and sleep zone is provided. In order to get percentages for the missing values you do have to do the calculations using the sleep stages plus time awake total minutes. I feel better knowing how the calculations are done. But I still wonder why all the values are not provided and just out of curiosity when it does list the sleep values by time why it starts with deep followed by awake and then the others.
thank you again megabyte for providing assistance and motivation for me to figure this out. I hope this helps others who are looking at the numbers to figure trying to figure out what is going on with them.

Hello again @Podunk
As I suspected the awake times must be included in the calculations to total 100%. So I’m happy I was able to clarify your original questions and give you an answer to that.
I’m a bit confused about the new question you presented. You stated “But I still wonder why all the values are not provided and just out of curiosity when it does list the sleep values by time why it starts with deep followed by awake and then the others’…
I’m wondering if your voiceover is not reading it correctly to you. The graph presents the percentages beginning with Awake followed by REM then Light and lastly Deep. So it doesn’t start with Deep.
Gosh I hope this doesn’t mean there might be another glitch in the voiceover similar to the edit button issue

Hello megabyte between our two brains in your eyes I think we have figured it out. It appears that Apple has created a flood product in the voiceover screen reader application according to Facebook software developers. I believe I will have to live with the problems I have identified with the Fitbit application because there appears to be no resolution.
just a heads up I downloaded the new version of the Fitbit app just a few minutes ago and the edit button has not been restored to the home screen.

Gosh @Podunk I’m sorry the new update didn’t address the edit button issue. But sadly, to be honest, I’m not surprised 🥺
Well I hope my first response did give you the answer you were looking for and helped clarify things. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
