HI there @whitty, welcome aboard to our Community. This happen to me from time to time and is because your tracker in the most basic form is a movement sensor. If the road is a little bumpy or your car produce a moderate vibration due to the engine is probably that your tracker will translate these vibrations as if you were walking.
I recommend to use the activity Driving to negate this steps. On your iOS app go to your exercise tab and log Driving. Enter the time you were on your car and save to complete this. All your steps from that time will be remove as a small portion of your calories that came from the impact of those steps.
