iOs App version 3.28 not working?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi!

I upgraded to iOs App version 3.28 last night and since then the app doesn’t appear to work. When opening the app, all I get is blank screen with fitbit text on top of it. I’m running it on iOS 13.6.1.

Is this a known bug and what should I do?

@KateFitbit
I have an iphone 8 plus IOS 13.61

my fitbit app was working then i started my walk, but when i came back & tried to tap finish so it would save it, the entire app was frozen. I couldn’t click on anything but my profile pic to get to help.
it was frozen all day even after I restarted my phone.
i did not delete the app & reinstall it like others did.

the last thing i tried was logging out & then back  in and that fixed the frozen part.

i lost my walk log activity however.
i do it daily on the days of exercise part of the app to show and keep record of my daily exercise.

as of Thursday 8/20 My Wednesday exercise still hasn’t shown . It’s like it never saved it🤬

MarcoGFitbit,

im currently having the same problem. App worked fine last night when syncing, this morning white screen and not loading.
I’m on version 3.28 updated 6 days ago, no new update pending. My phone is iPhone 8+.

i am hoping to not have to delete that app? Lots of history there.

White screen again.  This drives me crazy.  No help from FITBIT.  No idea how to fix.

I have an iPhone 8 iOS 13.6.1 and the FitBit app update to v3.28 caused all of these issues. I have tried deleting the app, restarting phone and reloading app from the cloud. No change. Please advise.

That does not help when the app is feeding data to another app that records daily activities and does not understand that!

deleting the app and restoring is a pain for thousands of users !  How about fixing the update??  Restart did not fix it.

Update:

iphone7 with latest updates v 13.5.1. Was OK until late evening EST.  Restart does not work.

As fitbit does not seem very interested in updating the app to solve this issue for us i want to share with you how i found a workaround.

I should start by mentioning that since last Tuesday had been logging my drink and food on the website.

After a couple of hours of looking around i was able to find the USB dongle for my fitbit. I downloaded the windows program, logged in, and synced my watch with it. I then deleted the app from my iPhone XS Max and reinstalled it. I had to log back in but thankfully everything was in my account: steps, sleep info, food and water logs, etc.

I guess if i had just deleted the iOS app a bunch of that info would have been lost, but finding that dongle was awesome. If you can't find yours, they sell them on ebay at a reasonable price.

I hope this can help you save your info and get a functioning app again.

Hello everyone. I appreciate your updates in this thread.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences and solutions. Our team is always working on our products and services, and your comments are always welcome. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts and would like to confirm if you've tried the following steps:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  3. Reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.

If the issue persists try to uninstall the Fitbit app and reinstall it. After doing these steps please confirm if the app is still showing a blank screen.

@Yahne76 Thank you for sharing the details of the issue when tracking your walk. I appreciate your efforts and while we are investigating this issue, I recommend manually logging your walk by following the steps from this help article: How do I manually log exercises in the Fitbit app?

Looking forward to your replies.

I have done all of these things with multiple attempts. A couple of times the dashboard came back but only for a few hours. The Exercise and Heart Rate historical data and ability to save a tracked exercise has never come back.

After waiting a few days for a new in vain for a new update to fix the issue, I deleted the app from my phone and installed it again. It is, by the by, pretty darn hard to log out of an app that only shows you a white screen, so that I couldn’t even attempt. 😉

After a new installation the app works again. But while getting (yet again) rid of the ”hello new user” advisements I also came to a decision. Half a decade worth of data notwithstanding, this was the last time I re-install Fitbit app. Next time this comes around, I’ll jump the ship and maybe go for Polar.

I am sick and tired of jumping hoops as a customer, just to keep using some app. If update causes problems, there is something wrong with the update and it really should be fixed by the provider. The proper solution is NOT the customer adopting the attitude of ”oh well, I’ll just re-install it” as a go to...

After my iphone update, I have had a white screen on my fitbit app (logo at top).  I have turned bluetooth on and off, turned iphone on and off (multiple times.)  I have a lot of historical data that I would hate to lose.  If I delete the app and install a new one, will I have access to my past data?  Suggestions on how to upload to my computer as back up?  I had not felt a need to do so previously, but now I'm wondering.  Thanks!

My wife & I were having the same problem on our iPhones after the 3.28 update. While I was trying both phones I left my phone on the blank Fitbit app screen for 2 minutes or so and miraculously the screen came to life and all was well again with the app. I did the same to my wife’s phone - left it open on the blank Fitbit screen for a minute or so and it came to life! Try it cheers

Hi, I’m running iOS 13.6 on an iPhone X, and I too have got the “white screen of death” when I try to open the Fitbit app.

I too have force closed the app and tried reopening (does not fix the problem), and have rebooted my iPhone (also does not fix the problem).

NB to the Moderators - you CANNOT log out of the Fitbit app when you all you have got is a blank/frozen white screen!

I am reluctant to uninstall the app, as I do not want to lose any of my historical data.  Please Fitbit - fix this!?  The app was working fine 2 days ago, and I can only assume that there was an automatic update which occurred, which has sent mine and [judging by looks of it] several other users app’s into chaos.

Hi.

I'm having the same issue and raised a new post (@ https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Fitbit-iOS-app-v3-28-shows-a-white-blank-screen-when-opening...) before seeing this thread.

Repeating the same post here for completeness, which was "Updated my fitbit app to v.3.28 on my iPhone 6S running iOS v.13.6.1 yesterday and now I just get a 'white screen' when I try to open the app.  Help please!"

My fitbit is a Blaze.

I too am experiencing the same issue after installing the update.  My device is an iphone 8.

I have restarted my phone several times, turned off blue tooth, and had the phone forget my fitbit device.  Now bluetooth won't even locate my fitbit.

I have tried all of the suggestions and still no luck.
I had a working device before the update, now I can’t figure out a fix.

 Please help!!!

Hello Kate, or whomever I’m replying to. My 1st time on this part of FitBIT. I’ve been trying to few things that I’ve read , and I still have the white screen on my iPhone app. Iphone 11Max Pro. I have NOT deleted the app off of the phone for fear of losing the data. Please help. I didn’t realize how dependent I am on the app for motivation. Lol

Same here - I don’t want to delete the app, as I don’t want to lose everything! And I don’t want to be like a “new starter” again.  Just wish Fitbit would release a fix for this problem!?!
