iPhone SE won’t let Fitbit app connect to Bluetooth (can’t sync device)

I noticed this about a week ago when I was trying to sync my device. When I pull down to sync on the Fitbit app on my iPhone SE, a pop up comes up and says “You must give ‘Fitbit’ access to Bluetooth to sync your data”. There are two options: settings or not now. When I press settings, there is no option for me to “give access to Bluetooth” for my Fitbit. I’ve checked everywhere in settings  and even tried to turn my data off and on. The same message keeps popping up and I’m still not able to sync my device. And I’m sure it didn’t sync because the last time it was reportedly synced was 1/31/20 and none of my data after that date shows on my app. Any help to fix this?

Hello @doglover8726 and a warm welcome.  I don't think I have a magic answer for you.  Some questions and thoughts.

When you go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone, is your Versa listed as Connected or Not Connected?  If it is listed as Not Connected, can you reconnect it?  DO NOT tap on the "i" in a circle and Forget This Device or you will lose all unsynced data.

Did you try restarting your Versa?

This is my "try a lot of things at once before you think about resetting your device" suggestion when things like this happen:

  • Delete the Fitbit app
  • Turn your phone off
  • Restart your Versa
  • Turn your phone back on
  • Re-download the app, log in and see if that works

It says connected in my Bluetooth settings and I’ve tried restarting both my phone and my versa. I haven’t tried deleting/offloading the Fitbit app yet because I have too little storage left on my phone and I’m kind of scared it won’t have enough space for me to put it back on (it has done that with other apps already). If I try it, will I delete it totally or offload it? If I delete it then won’t all of my data be deleted as well?

@doglover8726   You don't lose unsynced data if you delete then re-install the Fitbit app.  Data syncs to the Fitbit servers and isn't stored on the phone.  My iPhone storage information says that my Fitbit app is taking up 225.1 MB of space.  It says the app itself is 167.3 MB, with 57.9 MB of documents and data (something I haven't figured out, yet).  This might help you decide whether to delete/re-install the app.
