Hey,
I have searched google high and low in regards to child's sleep patterns.
Our 2nd daughter has a fit bit (she just turned 7). She has always slept from 7:30/8 pm ish till about 6:30/7 am ish) So we have been assuming she gets in a good 10-11 hours of sleep.
Since we got her a fitbit.. we have noticed that her sleep might not be as good as we may have thought. I have no idea what is normal and when it might be a good idea to bring it up with her ped.
Here is a week sleep log...
- 8:50 pm bed time.. 6:52 am wake up time. 1 time awake. 19 times restless. 3 hr 39 min awake/restless. Total sleep time: 6 hr 33 min
- 7:46 pm bed time.. 6:48 am wake up time. 2 times awake. 24 times restless. 4 hr 4 min awake/restless. Total sleep time: 6 hr 58 min
- 7:54 pm bed time.. 6:34 am wake up time. 3 times awake. 17 times restless. 4 hr 2 min awake/restless
Total sleep time: 6 hr 38 min
- 8:13 pm bed time.. 5:49 am wake up time. 3 times awake. 21 times restless. 3 hr 54 min awake/restless
Total sleep time 5 hr 42 min
- 8:18 pm bed time.. 7:35 am wake up time. 1 time awake. 25 times restless. 4 hr 3 min awake/restless
Total sleep time 7 hr 14 min
- 8:12 pm bed time.. 6:01 am wake up time. 1 time awake. 23 times restless. 3 hr 39 min awake/restless
Total sleep time 6 hr 10 min
Just seems odd to me to have that many restless times and the amount of time awake/restless. (My other daughter has anywhere from 2-20 mins awake/restless and only a few times restless, sometimes not restless at all)
Is this something I should mention to the ped?
She has hormonal issues (high progesterone, being monitored for early puberty - can't lose weight, gains weight in the tummy) she eats very healthy, exercises (gets anywhere from 12-15,000 steps a day). She has had bloodwork to see what's causing the weight gain (cortisol, adrenals, thyroid etc) and they had asked how her sleep is.. which to me I always thought good? Because I assume she is sleeping the whole time... but now that I have seen this, perhaps it's something the ped should know. She is sleepy during the day and often struggles with moods/tantrums and behaviour throughout the day.
If anyone can speak into this or know wheres a good place to find out more, I would love the help!
Thank you! 🙂

@nbgmama4, I'm sorry for the late response. However, let me welcome you to our Fitbit Community.
Regarding your concern, I think that it would be great to tell the sleeping information to your daughter's ped since this information is very helpful to them.
However, it seems that there are many times as restless, according the readings you provided. I appreciate this info.
I would like you to restart her Fitbit Ace as described in this help article. After this, make sure your daughter's device is positioned correctly on her wrist so that it doesn't slip. Finally, monitor her sleep during the next night and see if the accuracy changes.
Keep me posted on the outcome.
