hi, so we bought my daughter a fit bit ace 2 a few years ago. Barely used. Decided were going to give it to a family members child. I've requested to delete the account from the family account and it says it takes 7 days. My question is will the fit bit factory reset after this? I've tried everything to get it to factory reset and cannot do it. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hello @Kylie2704

Factory reset can be a bit confusing on an Ace 2. It’s done so by design so that a child can’t accidentally do a factory reset on their own. But I’ll be more then happy to help you out.

You can easily remove the individual associated to the Ace 2 by following these instructions:

  1. Open the Fitbit App and tap your profile picture.
  2. Scroll down and tap My Family.
  3. Remove each family member from the account you want. For details, see How do I remove someone from my Fitbit family
  4. If you have no other individuals on the Family account and you just want to delete the family account just tap the 3 dots in the upper right then tap Delete Family.

To factory reset the Ace 2: First place the Ace 2 into its charger and charge it. While it’s in the charger go to the settings (gear wheel) and tap it. Now scroll down to clear data user. When prompted, press the screen for 3 seconds and release. When your tracker vibrates and the clock screen appears, your data is erased.

Giving the Ace 2 to a family members child won’t be an issue. Just have the new child’s parent set up a family account like you did and then add the Ace 2 to the account as if it was brand new.

😃I hope this gives you the best answer to your question and helps get the Ace 2 prepared for a new home. Please come back and let me know.

Hi, thanks so much for the help with this. I've cleared the data and
requested the account to be closed which said it takes 7 days. Will this be
enough or do I need to do as you've advised? The settings option won't open
on my app for some reason so struggled with that part. Thanks ☺️

Hello again @Kylie2704

Your fine about the family account you have. It will close itself. The Ace 2 is erased and ready to be gifted to someone else. Your all set. 😃 I am happy I could help and I hope the next child enjoys the Ace 2. Please consider marking my previous instructions on how to clear everything as “Best Answer”. Doing so helps others in a similar situation find answers quickly. I’d appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and as always Happy Stepping!
