I was reading in this community and find it strangely odd that several people had their Alta HR all die at the same time.  Does someone know something I don't know?  Thanks.

Hello everyone.

I am sorry to hear about your unresponsive Alta HR devices. Not sure what the cause of your issues may be. It could be the display not working or the battery not charging or not holding a charge. If you haven't tried any troubleshoots then you can try the following:

Clean the contacts using cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's USB port (try different ports) or use an UL-certified USB adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves.

You can follow these instructions to help improve the battery life and these instructions to help your device charge.

If you want you can also reach out to our Support team (click here to contact them) for further assistance. This is why I have created tickets for you @HVKiesling @HannahRobinson7 @hamcar @Grandmalainie @criley14 @Walker51 .

Please keep in mind that Support does follow the guidelines described in the warranty so if your device is outside the warranty period they won't be able to replace it. This is why some got offered a discount, to help them in case they would like to keep using a Fitbit device. Still thank you for sharing your feedback.

Let me know how it goes.

mine died Aug 1-20

Best Answer

Mine hasn't died (yet!) but having some serious problems with it!  Maybe they're trying to move customers onto newer products because they no longer make them anymore? Apple do this with their older models-release 'software updates' that overload the OS and render them useless.

Great! If I cant get any answer or help with this I sure won't buy another one!

I chatted with customer service today.  After trying to restart it they said it was defective.  My warranty wxpired two years ago so I have to buy a new one. They did give me a 25%discount for next purchase. Still aggravating that it just up and died.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Mine died over the weekend as well right after I updated their App so I wounder if that is the issue, it has happen before.   I charged mine and it won't hold a charge for more than an hour.

Sorry about that. I can’t imagine that Fit Bit wouldn’t see that we’re all aware that our product has been sent out to pasture. If you do order another product from Fit Bit make sure you’re offered the 25% off.   Accessories like wristbands are much cheaper on Amazon. Stay well.

I've had 5 Alta HRS over the past 4.5 years.   They last about a year for me.

Same thing, something is definitely going on with the new update.

My died as well. Flashed with information so I plugged in to reset. Screen went black never to revive again.Went through trouble shooting with CS no success. Odd that this happened to so may on the same day.

Same and I contacted support - they offer a 25% discount, but it can’t be used for the newest device the charge 4, which is super frustrating, especially since they gave a discount at Fathers Day for 129.95.

Best Answer

That’s how mine started, I tried getting help from support and a day later it was dead.

Best Answer

I’m most annoyed that the discount doesn’t include the newest tracker - they only last 2 years or so, so I’m concerned an older one won’t last any time at all.

Agreed, this is my 3rd fit bit product and they have all lasted 2 years.
Not sure if the software is just no longer supported. CS said it was a
battery issue but I had a 44% charge then it flashed and when I connected
it to reset it died. I'd be curious as to how long anyone has had any of
the products last.

Mine has lasted 4 1/2 years so I guess I am lucky? Still strange that so many died this past few days. I do have a suspicion that it had something to do with an update. Maybe mine was no longer compatible?Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Last night it died in my sleep. Tried to check the time this morning before getting up...nothing. Plugged in to charge and it's completely dead.
