Alta Battery draining fast

Can you replace the battery for Alta Fitbit?  Mine is only 2 years old.  The battery says it is charged but after a day and a half dies.  When you plug it in it says the battery is about 3/4 charged.  Fitbit is saying it has to be replaced.  I am not sure I want to continue using Fitbit if I have to shell out $130 or more every two years.

Can I contact you. Mine's right around 2 years and I'm super choked it's dead asw I use it religiously and really like it. I am however not in place to shell out big money on new fancy watch. If love help with a discount and options for new one if that's what appears to be the only option as battery life is not changing and not replaceable for a battery.

Absolutely!  dhs59@comcast.net.  Put Fitbit in the subject, or I will delete it.  I don’t open emails, if I don’t know who is sending it.

It’s a Fitfort.  I use the Very Fit Pro app.

This Is my third Fitbit in five years! This is getting ridiculous! No the product does not seem to be worth the money that I’m putting into it. I do love what you all do for the community of health. But if I keep spending this kind of money on Fitbit I could hire a trainer! Whether I’m under warranty or not you should be able to do something else as it appears that the life of the Fitbit product is right at two years! I think that pretty much sucks and seems to be a real rip off!

Batteries can’t Be replaced and then the courtesy discount when your product is not under warranty is not sufficient to help cover the cost of another product on another item. I just think it needs to be re-thought.

I too am sick if it and flatly refuse to give them any more money. I’ve bought an alternative at a fraction of the cost and all is working well. I’ll never buy a Fitbit again!

I am on my third week of the AmazFit bit. It is bigger than the alta HR, which in my case I don’t like because I have skinny wrists and it takes getting used to, and the initial setup was not clear from the package but I found it on the net. Otherwise, it works really well, people think it is an Apple Watch *which is funny, and has more things than the Alta HR. You can have more apps simultaneously to handle different things like different sports etc. Hopefully it will last longer than the ALTA, that was the main deterrent for me. I did not want to buy another Fit and have disposable watches of near 100 dollars to replace every year and to create more unwanted waste. I have it linked to an iPhone 5S and to an iPad Pro 3rd.

I hope this helps.

Dear Wenda,
I hear you loud and clear. That is exactly why I did not want to buy another FIT, once I started seeing that there were many reports of their short longevity. It is a shame! Once my Alta HR died suddenly, looking brand new and having been well cared for, I did not want to waste my money and create more unnecessary waste and researched quite extensively. I settled for a AmazFit Bit. Their reviews (the ones that look real) are more positive than negative. The battery lasts more than a week before recharging and I exercise at least two days per week (tennis for 2 to 3 hours) in addition to normal daily walking etc. So far I am happy with it. The only thing is that it is about the same size as the Apple Watch which for my small wrists is a little uncomfortable, that is something I liked about the Alta. but their Inspire looked even worse in reviews that’s the ALTA HR.
AmazFit has other models but I settled for the middle of the road one until I find out if it will last past a year mark. Their info. From unwrapping is not very clear but everything is in the net and YouTube and I actually get to manage the watch with two more apps in addition to the basic one that they have. This gives flexibility for watch faces and having more targeted numbers in reference to specific sports. The heart rate sometimes does not show well on the watch itself but if I look in my phone there it is. This might be because of using the other apps.
Crossing my fingers that there is more durability with this and that you stop wasting your hard earned money with a company that is obviously creating short lived products knowingly.

Best,
Roz

Yes! I settled for an amazfit bit and it’s on it’s third week. So far all is well and I even have more info. More apps options etc. The only thing is that it is the size of some apple watches and I have a small wrist. But, I refused to give one more penny to a company that seems to be knowingly putting short lived products out there.
What product did you get?

I am having a similar issue to all on this post. I received my alta HR as a Christmas gift  2018 so it is jus over a year old, and of course,  out of warranty. Around 5 days ago it stopped holding a charge for longer than 6 hours. I found out because it just died on my wrist halfway through the day after being fully charged  that morning. I would fully charge it and within an hour it was already drained to 75%.

I have attempted all the suggestions outlined in this forum. Tried resetting it. Charged it for 2hours after it drained itself. Cleaned all the prongs and such. Nothing is working. In fact the hold time on the battery seems to be getting worse.

Suggestions?

Change brands.
At least yours still gives the time... mine just simply went black. I bought an extra charger in case that mine had stopped... did the cleaning, the restarting, the everything .. nothing.. it just died inexplicably. Then I started finding out that many were facing the same ir very similar issues and the company’s response was the warranty is out, we can give you a discount on another one etc.... so... I will never buy Fitbit again.
By the way, my things last forever! If they are of good or decent quality at least. Mine still looks brand new! So no, it is not about roughness or bad care at all. It’s quality and they are obviously aware.
The bizarre thing is they discontinued the Alta and came with the inspire to replace it but the inspire is even of worse quality!
And, why would one be inclined to buy a Versa or others after that experience?
Not I says this customer.

I received the Alta for a birthday gift and bought the Inspire HR on last night. It WON’T EVEN charge so I am taking it back for a refund unless they have changed the rules in the past 12 hours and it’s out of warranty!
NO MORE FITBIT PRODUCTS FOR ME!
This our 5th item in as many years. I forgot my husband had been suckered in too!

Thanks

I would like to know what my options are to have my Fitbit repaired or replaced. It wont hold a charge at all. The battery symbol comes on while it's connected, but as soon as I unplug it it won't stay on.

Please email me at amandarooski2001@gmail.com

Thank you

Amanda

Since we are getting the word out, hopefully people will stop buying their product, and they'll be forced to make the needed changes. I'll never look back!

My suggestion is to ditch FITBIT and use another device.

I switched to a Fitfort, but got an Apple Watch for Christmas.

JuanJoFitbit,

But you all are NOT making ANY improvements!! These posts have gone on for YEARS!!

Fitbit OWES its consumers CLEAR verbiage in its packaging that states "product will NOT last more than a day, a week, a year".

Fitbit is outright deceiving its consumers. Shame on Fitbit. Shame on you for your repeated posts thanking us for our feedback.

From ALL your very disgruntled Fits*it owners.

Google was supposed to buy Fitbit, maybe they will clean house, if they were smart.

A permanent solution is the use of a hammer. Surprisingly satisfying. Buy a diffeerent brand.

-bye,

Rich

I have a fit bit alta that the battery is no good. It works when plugged in but immediately after you unplug it goes dead. I'd really like to replace the battery? Is that possible?
