Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.
This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page.
You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

@SunsetRunner Yeah, it is a known issue with the Message+ application but doesn't occur with the stock Android messages app or Google Hangouts per my personal experience. If I hear of this changing in the future I will make sure to share it with you here.

I just got mine today and was having all the textbook trouble with my messaging as well. until about an hour ago, i figured out that on the norifications page on the mobile app, when you click on the text notifications and it shows you all the options in there (messages, messenger, whatsapp, etc) i was clicking on it, and choosing the view message and sender, and leaving and then going to all the others and doing the same, not realizing it just works for one of them at a time. So that let's say if the last one i clicked was messenger, then only messages from messenger would show up, etc. It was still showing me the "1 new message" with my regular messaging, but working great with whatsapp and messenger(only other 2 i cared about) so what i ended up trying out and ended up working was , messenger has this new feature where you can also get your regular messaging through it, so i did that. And then chose messegner in the notification options, and now i can see my regular messages and my fb ones. Hope that help!

If you have an iPhone and are having trouble getting text notifications, I have the solution! Or at least the one that worked for me. Got to Notifications, messages, then click the gree toggle to show in notifications center. This of course is after you have followed all of Fitbit's instructions. Where they are dropping the ball in communication with us is that area of messages on your iPhone. I hope this works for y'all (I fretted over mine from March til July).

This new feature kind of sucks, because we have to actually double tap in order to see any notifications, or text. I used to love the fact that i was riding my bike and when somebody called, i just had to see on my wrist if it was worth to stop and aswer the call or not. Now i have to have BOTH my hands of the handle bar to double tap. Quickview is not an option because its so sensitive it drains the battery in less than 3 days. It would be good if we can chose to display the message with no need to tap just like with the Charge.

If you have Quick View turned off, you will need to tap to show the messages.
I have my Quick View turned on to show the clock.
When you raise your hand and turn your wrist the clock will display.
When I get the vibration that I have a message I do the same movement and my message or caller is displayed without tapping.
In the app if you go to the device it has an option for quick view to show clock or off.
Set to Show clock and you should see the messages scroll when you make the motion of looking at the device like a watch.
I do not have the battery drain issue. And I have had quick view on since I bought it. I charge mine once every 6 days.
Hope that helps.

Thats 100% True, however the Quick View KILLS the battery pretty fast.
It also lights up at night when you move, and sometime it flashes right into my eyes.
I believe killing the battery is the main concern i have and why i avoid using quick view.
How long it last the battery on your having the QC active?

Maybe I don't make that movement as much. I only charge my battery every 6 days.
I wear it on my Left wrist which is my non-dominate hand.
And I know that I sleep like the dead and don't wake up if it does go off at night 🙂

Good for you! I have a new born and cant hardly sleep, and right when im falling asleep that thing flashes in my eyes and light up the entire room. Hopefully we see that feature in the future.
I have my charge, and that one shows calls even when QV is DISABLED. Which is very convinient when im riding my bike or motorcycle.
Thanks for your feedback!

Congrats on the newborn! Yes that would be annoyiong...hopefully there would be an update and make that a bit more user friendly and give an option on what is available on quick view.

How come you dont have to tap to see the notifications? Are we talking about the Alta? Or the Charge?

I have the Alta. And with Quick view on to see the clock when I raise my arm like looking at at watch...if a text comes in and I do that same motion my texts will display. So will phone numbers for when the phone is ringing.
If quick view is off the Alta does not do that.
But no I don't have to tap to view my messages, I just make that motion and if I have a new text or a phone call it will display without tapping the device.

Oh thanks for your reply! I was actually replying to Shurples.
He said he does not have to tap the watch in order to see the messages.....im sure he also has the QV activated.
