When I put my Alta to charge it started to get hot and suddenly stopped working. I have only had it a few months and follow the clean and care tips well. I have tried resetting it but anytime I put it on the charger it starts to heat up. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way to get this fixed or would I have to get it replaced?

Fitbit contacted me after I posted on here. They were really helpful & as it was in warranty replaced the Fitbit without any hassle at all.
Hope it works out for you too

The same thing happened to me this evening. I put it on charge & 20 minutes later it was boiling hot & wouldn't respond.

That's good. I'm glad you got it sorted. It must be a manufacturing fault for us all to be complaining about the same issue. It's a real shame as I loved my Fitbit.

I am having the issue described above. Resetting is not really an option when it gets so hot on plug in. I have sent an email hopefully to the right place. Fingers crossed that I am covered :(:(

My FitBit Alta just completely shut off on my as well, not sure what to do about it. Got a new charger cable thinking that it died but it's still just getting hot and not working.

I contacted support and they sent me a replacement. They didn't ask too many questions so I'm guessing it is a known issue

I checked my Fitbit and it had almost fully charge. I was just about to go out so i went to put it on for a few minutes. The second it connected to the charger it stopped working and became super hot. I cannot restart it because I don't have a Fitbit brand charger. I bought mine cheap of ebay. Does anyone have any ideas?

My Alta fit bit is not that old either and the same thing is happening to mine too! Gets boiling hot on the charger, screen is black and I can’t restart it!

I too have now had this issue with 2 altas in less thana year. The reset instructions don’t work very well at all. Fitbit replaced the first one because once it finally came back on it won’t hold charge for more than a few hours. My current one still won’t turn on.

I'm having the same problem. First it wouldn't hold a charge and now it gets hot on the charger and won't charge at all. I tried resetting and it won't respond to that either.

@michellesp, if several restarts didn't help, I would suggest getting in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on contact.fitbit. com.
They will be able to help. Welcome to the forums!
