Alta's display too dim

The screen brightness on my Alta is very dim and unreadable in all but the lowest light. I have tried to reset the device but it has made no difference. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

@Verading Thanks for participating in our Fitbit Community! Sounds weird that your Alta's display is dim. I would like to know if this issue affects the display all the time or if the display is dim when you are outside when the sunlight hits your tracker.

Looking forward to your response my friend! Smiley Happy

Hi,
Thanks for replying to my post.
The display is almost unreadable in all but the most dim light. I cannot read it at all in normal daylight. My wife also has an Alta and its display is far brighter and readable in normal light conditions.
The brightness of the display is gradually getting worse on my
tracker and I fear will soon be unreadable in any light conditions.
I think I may have to send it back if there is not some kind of adjustments that I can make.
Thanks again for your interest.

@Verading Thanks for getting back! I would like to know just one more detail; did your Alta experience any intense contact with water or liquids? This also may affect the functionality of the display.

In the meantime, try the restart process 3 consecutive times and see if the display issue gets corrected.

Let me know how it goes my friend! Smiley Happy

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I'm pleased to say that fitbit have agreed to replace my Alta so hopefully my problems are resolved.
FYI, the unit was never immersed in water and I always removed it when showering etc. I can't think of anything that it was subjected to that would be considered to be outside normal parameters.
The display failed gradually over two to three weeks and is now unreadable. All other functionality seems to be ok.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Grahame.

My fitbit is brand new and cannot read the display outdoors.   I have tried to reset as described, but, does not change anything.   Useless product for me, I bought it to keep track of my outdoor walks...

Hi ,
I had the same problem with my Alta. I reported the fault and received a replacement device, I'm happy to say that the replacement has performed well since I received it.
I would advise that you report the fault and I hope they (fitbit) will replace your device.
Good luck,
Verading.

@FiddletownR Thank you  for joining us in this thread! I know how frustrating the display is for you since it's hard to view it when the sunlight hits directly to your tracker. The Alta doesn't have an option to adjust the brightness of the display. I really appreciate your feedback and comments.

@Verading Thanks for your input and feedback my friend!

That's pretty stupid since 99% of the time you are outside

@Blo1 Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Alta's screen is hard to be read. Regarding your inquiries, the device can't be opened and the battery is built in. Therefore the battery can't be replaced.

Hi - have had my Alta HR for about 16 months.  Over the last week or so the heart rate and active minute tracking has been very off.  Today the display screen became so dim that I can only read it if I cover it with my hand to create a low light effect.  Can't think of anything that could have caused water damage - certainly not in the last week when it stopped functioning properly.  Let me know any advice.

Well noted. I am on standby.

I have had my Alta for a few years. I have just taken it out of the drawer to begin using again. It is fully charged. The screen is too dim to see when outside. Is there anything I can do?
