Battery charge Icon

Recently I noticed the battery charge level icon does not change after a charge is done. It does not seem to be working correctly. Along with another issue about how long the charge is lasting. Could recent updates be what is causing this problem? Wondering if a reinstall of the App might correct this issue? Also are the Updates suppose to come from Google play store? Just to add is the battery replaceable and how is that done?

Hello @SunsetRunner

I just saw this post and thought I’d try and assist you. It wouldn’t hurt to try and do a restart of your Fitbit Alta HR. You will not lose any data doing this: Here’s how:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. (The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. It’s a bit tricky to see but look closely...it looks like a circle logo on the end of your plug) When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable and sync your tracker.

To answer your question about if the battery is replaceable and the answer to that is no. Also to answer another question you had is yes your app should come from the google play store and as far as updating if you have your device set up to auto update it will update on it’s on otherwise you have to manually update your Fitbit App.

i hope I’ve provided you with a solution to your questions. Please let me know

Well I have tried the restart but there was not any change. Thought I saw a
video on YouTube showing a battery being replaced? If so it would be a bit
tricky. The problem now is I removed the Fitbit from the App. Have been
trying to setup the device but it will not work. I get the code to enter
but it will not pair. Maybe this is not allowed more than once? Is it
possible to do the setup on a laptop then install the App on your phone and
have the App on the phone work?

Hello @SunsetRunner

what device are you installing the Fitbit App on (the version of of the device)? I wondering if it’s compatible with the new Fitbit App. You can check that information here: https://www.fitbit.com/devices

Hello the phone is a Samsung Galaxy J3 which originally was not on the
list. I was told by Fitbit support the android version should work. I am
not sure if a Verizon App for anti virus might be the reason? It was not on
my phone before when my Fitbit was paired to the App. I might try removing
it to see what happens.

Hello again @SunsetRunner

It’s worth a shot removing the anti virus just to see if it interferes with the apps function but it would be alarming that you are forced to not use an anti virus program due to a conflict. If the ends up being the case I would call Fitbit Customer Service to ask if there is any workaround or something you can do that you can have both the app and your protection.
