So I've had my fitbit Alta for 4 days now....
It counted 50 steps yesterday morning before I had even got out of bed! Then I reached my 10k goal yesterday whilst sat at my desk, picking up approx 400 steps when I wasnt even walking.
I do a 10 minute walk to work, researching online this should be around 1,000 steps. My alta is picking up at between 1300 and 1600 steps. Its midday and I have been working from a desk all morning (with a trip to the ladies and to get a coffee... but this is a very short trip) and its racked up to over3.5k steps now! Yesterday I did do a little more walking but it was definatly not over 15k!!
I have the wrist and dominance settings set correctly too! I am only short at 5ft2! so i have short little legs... I've read you can change the stride settings, will this solve the problem as I'm close to returning it!

I have noticed a trend. That being that your trackers are probably defective, at most in my sleep my tracker counts 14 steps while sleeping (so far), never have I looked at my fitbit when taking steps and it registering way too many steps. The places i find it over counting is when I am sitting still and moving my arms about. So i have no idea what is going on with yours.
Best AnswerAll these answers are unacceptable. The sense doubled my steps instantly all of a sudden just sitting here. Why isnt fitbit answering this. Better yet why isnt fitbit fixing this.
Its the primary guage to everything else. How can i trust anything now?
Why is the watch doing this its unacceptable. I'll just go back to my citizen skyhawk..Does apple work any better? Ive had 2 of thesse. I keep going at this pace paying for overpriced junk I might as well just save up for a rolex or one of these products that actually does work.
I'm completely the opposite, mine doesn't count my steps enough. When I compare to my husband who hasnt been walking around as much as me, some days his can be double my count. Very frustrating.
Best AnswerVery frustrating. My Fitbit used to be fairly accurate when counting steps. My biggest problem with it was counting too few steps ( as I walked and counted along). Nothing too significant though. Suddenly today it's counting way too many, around 3x as much. I don't want to hear that I would be happier if I only used it for "trends" rather than exact step count! That's not what I paid for!
I want a near-accurate step count!!
