Deleting data

I'm so frustrated as I've followed the steps advised but just can't delete the data from my ALTA and app and start fresh. Previous responses said I should change the account email address (so I could start a new account using my current email address). I have just done this. It said it would send me a verification email asking me to click that I definitely wanted to change the address. It didn't. It just sent me an email asking me to click the link if I DIDN'T want to change the email address. I have since tried logging in and the old address is still valid. It isn't changing. Does it take hours? Why is this so hard? So many people seem to have asked this question about starting over and deleting previous data but nothing seems to work. I'd be really grateful if someone could solve this. I just want to start fresh!

Instead of trying to change you email address, just log out of the app and start anew, creating a new account with different email.

Changing email would be for if you wanted to keep data but change email which doesn't sound like what you want.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks for your response. I don't want to have to set up a whole new email address just for Fitbit. Surely it shouldnt be so hard.

If your trying to change your email address, you will need to have access to both email addresses.

So yes, either way you may need to setup a new email address.

Or use a modifier

Many email servers allow a modifyer this could be a period or a plus.

The following email modifiers would all go to the same email address but Fitbit treats them as unique addresses.

Fistlastname@

First.lastname@

First.last.name@

Firstlastname+Alta@

I do this a lot with google so I can trace who is selling my email addresses

Once you have changed the address you can, if you decide to, request fitbit to delete your Fitbit account.
