Fitbit Alta doesn't work unless plugged in to charger although battery shows at full

My Fitbit is nearly 3 years old and working fine then suddenly the display was lost, activity tracking and synching and although on checking the battery is full. Display and synching only possible when the Fitbit is plugged in through charger

Apparently, there's no solution to this when you are already out of the warranty period. 😔

I have that same exact problem.

Me too. It works for about one minute after I unplug it but it goes dark again. I just got it a few weeks ago and I’ve tried restarting it but it doesn’t work.

I have in the same situation too. It won't respond to any of my TAPS at all. Only when it's charging I can see something but it won't work out for me.

I just bought an Alta from Fb market place and it turned on for a bit but now I can’t get the screen to show up at all...tried all the troubleshooting tips...the charger came half broken so I’ll try a new one to make sure, (if I can even find one) but so far I’m rather disappointed...

AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH MY ALTA & my FITBIT CHARGE HR is falling apart - even tho it is my newest FITBIT.   This is the 2nd CHARGE I have had the same problem with- the band is separating from the device, the little black piece that the charger plugs into to hold the cord in place while charging came off- seriously disappointed in how long these are lasting compared to my original FLEX.

Seriously thinking of giving Garmin a try - pricier, but in the tie I have gone through 4 fit bits, my daughter is still on her 1st Garmin,

My Fitbit Alta isn’t working correctly either. Charge is fine. I’ve re-set, I’ve syched it, I’ve made sure it was charged. It’s past the warranty so I imagine there’s not much I can do but it would be nice to know what else can be done.

I am experiencing the same issue, the display show the time, everything works as long as it's on the charger. From reading the posts, it sounds like this happens a lot. My fit bit is about 3 years old.

I am having the same problem so I came on to the forum hoping for an answer but I am disappointed to find that there doesn’t seem to be a solution. My Alta is out of the guarantee period too so it looks like we are all in the same position. It’s not a good advert and I won’t recommend them in future

Just got mine in February and it was doing this by May! Help! Completely dissatisfied!

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Would you be able to put a ticket in for me as well?

There is something seriously wrong with the Alta, whether caused by the recent software update or not, which Fitbit will not address.

Replacing the Alta with another Alta that will just fail in the same manner is not a solution. Why isn’t Fitbit giving us a real answer?

They’ve lost a long-time customer, and I know many others are jumping ship as well.

Hi-

I've had my Alta for about 6 months and it has started to quit working (blank screen not responding to taps, despite a full battery charge), after I plug it in, it resets to the last time I synced and requires a resync after which it seems fine. However it is happening more frequently. Twice in the last 24 hours and is currently not working.

I'd like to get this figure out before it is out of warranty.

Hi

You should return your Fitbit to where you purchased it as there will be a 2 year guarantee on it so if you bought it brand new they should replace it for you.

Taffydog -

Thanks for the advice, good to know there is a 2 year warranty. However it was a Christmas present. I don't have the receipt or know where it was purchased.

I agree, my Alta stopped working in March/April this year, nearly four months out of warranty.

I have not replaced mine yet, and will now be looking at other trackers (not FitBit) if I decide to get one. After the panic of not having one, I am sort of getting used to not knowing how many steps I have walked, and after getting a new battery, I am wearing my watch again.
Now if the Alta problem could be solved by a new battery, that would be radical!! Oh wait..... 🙄🙄🙄

So another Fitbit customer lost...bye, bye 👋👋

This is my second Alta and I am having the same issue they will work for a short time then shut down and you have to replug them in. I have tried resetting them and the issue continues. I am about to give up as when they shut down they do not track.
